10/27: MORE ON THE RADIO PARTY W/ ACE & PETER, LIVE ON RADIO MONDAY, MORE

Had a great trip to Boston to hang with WAAF listeners Friday night for their Halloween show at Tsongas Arena. Met so many great fans on the concourse of the arena. Sold many books also, thanks! My show airs in Boston on Sunday nights at 8 so spread the word and tune in. Hope to do more there soon. Huge thanks to Sammy Hagar who gave me a ride in and out of Boston on his private jet and headlined the event. I never flew private in my life up until a year ago and now have done it 3 times. I need to hit the lottery! What a way to go! Always enjoy hanging with Sammy. As a lifelong fan it was an amazing way to cap an amazing month that also included the trip to Brazil, the new book release and of course the huge party this past Wednesday for my radio show.

Speaking of the party it is amazing how many people thought it was for my birthday, regardless of the fact it was billed as a listener party for 30 years of my radio show. I wish I was just 30 haha! My birthday is in August, funny to get so many greeting of people that didn’t know what it was for, but thanks. There were SO many amazing musicians, an incredible set by The Winery Dogs, and MANY incredible guests who made such a great effort to be there and be party of this epic night. But of course all anyone is talking about is the reunion on stage after 13 years of Ace Frehley & Peter Criss, who buried the hatched for my event and I am so thankful! I intentionally did not announce the special guests in advance. I wanted people to come because they wanted to come, and these legendary surprises were that much more special because of it. I knew Ace & Peter were coming, I invited them. I did not know they would play or play together! That was a major surprise for me. This weekend at The Chiller signing show that’s all anyone was talking about. I also think though people are reading a bit too much into it. Yes Ace & Peter hung out and became friends again. Jamming and rehearsing for my event and catching up backstage and clearing any differences. They wanted to do this for me and made that clear, but I am also happy as a fan that it cleared the air between the two of them. Ace is making a new album. Peter told me he is reinvigorated to finish a rock album now. I think it’s highly unlikely this leads to anything more with them together and who knows, maybe it’s the last time they play together (I hope not!), but it was magic if you were there. There are many video clips all over YouTube. Audio was pro recorded so we will see what becomes of that.It was truly KISStory for those that were there and I am super honored they did it for me and my radio shows 30th year. But also want to be sure the AMAZING other artists and performances that night at not overlooked. Because truly everyone nailed it last Wednesday and I am grateful!

I’ll be back live tomorrow for the SiriusXM show. Needless to say a TON to discuss after a couple weeks away. 6-10P ET on channel 39 TRUNKnation. I will be taking many calls and covering it all.

I hope to announce new book signings very soon for Ft Lauderdale, Dallas, Tulsa, Allentown PA, and more. Keep a close eye on this space and the Book Tour list on the home page. Thanks to all who have or will purchase my new book! Also please check out the cool new Eddie Trunk / TRUNK Nation merch on the just opened online store. Great for holiday gifts as well!

10/24: EPIC PARTY LAST NIGHT, ACE & PETER, KISS, IN BOSTON FRIDAY FOR AAF EVENT W/HAGAR!

Incredible night last night in NYC as so many fans, family and friends, and amazing musicians, gathered to celebrate 30 years of my radio show. I am pressed for time so can’t get into too much here, but it truly was one of the most special nights of my life. Best performance yet by The Winery Dogs who just rocked beyond belief! Then the jams were just crazy great. SO many amazing talents celebrating my radio show I was truly floored and honored beyond words. Thanks to each and every one of them! There will be a ton of audio, video and photos pumped out, some out already. Some of the night was filmed by VH1C for a segment in an upcoming new TMS. Audio was pro recorded. HUGE thanks to Mike Portnoy for working so hard on the jams, and to the Hard Rock NYC and my dear friend John Pasquale for putting it on. Thanks also to Mark Menghi and Samson/Zoom for sponsoring. TONS more to tell you and I will on the radio shows when back live Monday.

Of course the biggest news from the night was that Ace Frehley and Peter Criss came to the event. I knew both were coming but I had no idea both would play, together no less! There has been some friction between the two over recent years (read Peter’s book), but I found out today that the two said they wanted to jam and reconnect out of respect to me and our friendship and the spirit of the night. So for the first time in 13 years Ace and Peter reconnected, laughed, and jammed! It was EPIC and the electricity in the room when they came out was incredible. To see Peter looking great and behind the kit, singing and playing great, was so awesome to see as a fan and friend. Same with Ace. Just electric when he plugged in! Ace did Parasite with an all star band, Peter did Hooligan. Love Her All I Can and R&R All Night was played by Ace & Peter. Every member of all the bands there was watching and smiling ear to ear, none more than Frank Bello, Billy Sheehan, Scott Ian and Mike Portnoy, who backed them on some songs and are huge fans. I was in the crowd watching everything but while waiting to play Ace & Peter sat backstage together telling stories and catching up I’m told. I spoke to Peter today who said he had a blast and was thrilled to reconnect with Ace. Said last night, and his recent appearance at a Rob Zombie show, actually has inspired him to finish a hard rock album he has been working on. He said playing again for an audience and singing as well as he did has given him confidence he can still do it. Ace is in the middle of recording a new album now. Coincidentally this reunion came days after Gene Simmons said in an interview if Kiss does get into the R&R Hall they would not play with Ace and Peter. The current Kiss continues to disparage these guys I guess to justify what they are currently selling. It is sad and pre mature to say the least, and I know for a fact Gene making those statements greatly hurts Kiss’ chances of actually getting in. Even the most hardcore Kiss fans were offended that Gene could make a statement like that before they even know if they might go in. For a band that always says the fans are the bosses, this is beyond comprehension. But it’s all putting the cart before the horse at this point since Kiss is only NOMINATED, not in (as dumb as that is!). So let’s see what happens, but one thing is certain, if Kiss goes in it will be with the original band, and nothing would be more of a joke to see the current Kiss perform, with Tommy & Eric dressed as Ace & Peter,  when the original band is what’s being inducted. Last night proved Ace and Peter are NOT “drunk losers”, at least not anymore. It also proved that they can still play and perform and are very much the spirit and sound of Kiss every bit as much as Gene and Paul. For the record Ace is sober 7 years, Peter longer. Were they fuck ups before? Sure, they will be the first to tell you that. And I’m not saying for a minute they should do a reunion with the band. But how about some credit for the people they are TODAY. Last night that was on full display and it was magic! I am proud to call them both friends and so happy for them for the healthy sober happy people they are now. The real Catman and Space Ace were rocking last night in NYC at my party and it was a supreme honor that they made it all work for my celebration and audience. Thank you to them and to EVERYONE who made it such a memorable night. And trust me there are TONS of stories to share, just can’t type them all now. But I’m live on SiriusXM Monday to cover this and more with you.

Sammy Hagar also attended my event last night. I’m catching a ride with him to Boston tomorrow and will be at Tsongas Arena in Lowell MA for the AAF Thrillogy with Sammy, Buckcherry & Sick Puppies. I’ll be selling and signing both of my books starting at 6:30 in the arena main lobby. You do NOT need a show ticket to come by and see me, but hope you go into the show as well as it should be fun. See you tomorrow Boston. Look forward to hanging with my AAF family where my show airs on Sunday nights! And thanks to Sammy for the ride on his plane and for coming by my party last night!

10/23: 30 YEARS OF RADIO CELEBRATED TONIGHT IN NYC!

About to leave for the Hard Rock in NYC where tonight my radio shows 30 years on the air will be celebrated. Seems like yesterday that 25th was being celebrated in the same place with Judas Priest playing. Tonight’s music will be anchored by The Winery Dogs. By now many know what a fan I am of these three guys, all good friends as well. My role in helping them form makes this even more special for me personally. They’ve made the album of the year in my view and honored they will play for me, my radio listeners, and many friends tonight. There will be many guests I love and respect in the audience and many jams as well. Some I know about, some I’m told will be a surprise. After 30 years I still love doing radio, and this show which started on WDHA in NJ in 1983 is where many of the other things I do can be connected to. I believe in doing radio live when possible and playing different songs, telling stories, talking to guests, interacting with the audience. Never thought I would make it three decades but honored and grateful to my audience for making that happen. So just a quick note here before the big party tonight to say THANK YOU to all the program directors and radio stations that air my show, and of course my flagship Q104.3 in NYC where the program has lived since 2002. I’ll have a ton of photos and stories about tonight no doubt, but before it all goes down just a huge THANKS to all of YOU for the support helping me keep this show and all the other things I do alive. And thanks in advance to Mike Portnoy my musical director for tonight and all at The Hard Rock and John Pasquale for making this happen. It should be an amazing night in what has been an amazing month between the new book, Brazil and now this. THANK YOU ALL!

PS: If you were lucky enough to get in tonight doors at 7 show around 8 till whenever. Please shoot video, take pictures, whatever. Just send me a copy!

Back from Brazil. SO much to tell you guys but time is short as I change gears and prepare for the big listener 30th Anniversary party tomorrow night with The Winery Dogs and TONS of surpirse guest jams! If you won tickets see you there. Doors at 7, show at 8. Can’t wait to celebrate 30 years of doing hard rock/metal radio with many fans, bands and friends in NYC at Hard Rock Cafe Times Sq tomorrow!

As for Sao Paulo is was AMAZING! I now see first hand what so many bands have told me about the passion of Brazil rock fans. TMS is huge there. Everywhere I went I was stopped by fans who watch the show. The Monsters Of Rock Festival was a great success. An honor to host it and connect with all the fans in Brazil finally. Obrigado! Also want to thank the promoters XYZ for making me part of it and making it all happen. SO many stories to tell and I will when I have time. Also TONS of pro photos by Ron Akiyama to be posted here soon and on Twitter and FB. Highlight? Hanging with Aerosmith of course, and those guys being cool enough to shoot a video with me and allow me to intro them on stage. Amazing, surreal! Quick note, Tom Hamilton was not feeling well and came home from the bands current S American tour. Ton recently fought cancer and needed some rest. Dave Hull did a great job filling in but get well soon to Tom!

I’ll be in the main lobby before the ticketed area so come say hello please starting 6:30 till around 8. I’ll be at the Chiller show in NJ this Sunday noon-4 selling and signing both books.

10/15: HEADED TO SAO PAULO BRAZIL, MORE.

For years I have been hearing from many fans in S America, and Brazil especially, about the amazing rock and metal scene there and how much they love their music and also love That Metal Show. I’ve talked to many friends in bands that have confirmed that as well. So I am really excited to be leaving tonight for my first ever trip to Brazil. I’ll be visiting Sao Paulo and taking part in hosting duties for the Monsters Of Rock festival this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the more modern day headlined by Slipknot, Sunday the more classic day headlined by Aerosmith. Hope to have a little time before the weekend activities to do some sight seeing and meet many of the great fans first hand. Joining me on the trip with be my friend and photographer Ron Akiyama. So when I return I’ll have plenty of great pro photos and maybe even some video as well to share. I will have limited access to internet but will post updated here, on FB and via Twitter when I can.
