Eric Martin, Kip Winger and Richie Kotzen are among the first acts to be confirmed for Def Leppard’s 2016 cruise.
Hysteria On The High Seas takes place aboard the MSC Divina, leaving from Miami, Florida, on January 21st next year and stopping at Half Moon Cay and Freeport in the Bahamas.
Def Leppard will be headlining, with guitarist Vivian Campbell’s Last In Line also due to appear. Cinderella’s Tom Kiefer, Winger’s mainman Kip Winger, Mr. Big’s Eric Martin and The Winery Dogs’ Kotzen have also been announced.
Def Leppard say, “Be prepared to get wet, wild and ready to rock.”
After 40 years rattling teeth, bones and ears with their legendary rock’n’roll, you might excuse Motörhead if they wanted to ease off. Put their feet up. Relax a little. And instead, Motörhead gleefully say a loud and hearty ‘bollocks’ to that sort of feeble-minded thinking with their 22nd studio album, Bad Magic.
Bristling with thunderous attitude, pioneering spirit and some of the fiercest rhythms and riffs that’ll beat your ears into submission this year, Bad Magic is a massive kick in the teeth for anyone who dared believe it might be otherwise. Indeed, if those people still remain, they would do well to grab some big fat earplugs, fall to their knees and pray like buggery, because big-rig head crushers like Thunder And Lightning and the especially l-o-u-d Teach‘Em How To Bleed show that Motörhead are as strong, mean, loud, relentless, uncompromising and goddam heavy as ever.
Drawing on their own vast catalogue of road-warrior freewheeling rock’n’roll spirit, Bad Magic also strides confidently into some of the earlier attitudes of Motörmusic. Written and recorded in the studio together, for the first time in the Kilmister/Campbell/Dee era, the more ‘live’ approach to creating Bad Magic has obviously paid dividends in this regard. There is the driving malevolence of Choking On Your Screams, with Lemmy in magnificently omnipotent vocal mood, Electricity carries a hefty chunk of punk attitude married with some of Phil Campbell’s best lead work in years, while Shoot Out All of Your Lights is all devilish, greasy biker-borne-screw-you-and yours, Mikkey Dee’s tribal drums pounding out a great path for more Kilmister proclamations. The boys even enjoyed a guest appearance from Queen’s Brian May on The Devil, adding a scintillating solo on this thunderous Motörstomper.
Produced at NRG Studios with long-time producer Cameron Webb, Bad Magic came together after a couple of years which saw Motörhead enjoy their most successful international era in over two decades off the back of their last release Aftershock. Lemmy also finally decided to face the fact he is flesh, blood and mortal like all of us, adjusting his lifestyle to kick the ass of health-issues and re-emerging stronger, leaner and meaner than ever. His own personal performances on Bad Magic rank as some of the most wide-ranging and unique he has delivered in years, and on the ballad Until The End, Lemmy opens up with equal levels explanation and intent on the simple but important matters which life conjures for us all. Add to all of this a wonderfully executed, gritty delivery of The Rolling Stones classic Sympathy For The Devil, and it will be clear to anyone with a pair of ears that Bad Magic is Motörhead’s finest work in over two decades.
You can also expect the road to get its butt kicked by Motörhead once again in the last half of 2015. Starting in mid-August, there will be a North American tour with Anthrax which ends with the now-legendary Motörboat cruise between Sept 28th – Oct 2nd from Miami, Florida to Nassau in the Bahamas, also featuring Slayer and Anthrax among a bumper line-up of bands. Also, Motörhead’s 40th Anniversary European Winter tour will start on November 15th 2015 at Le Zenith in Paris, ending on December 6th at the Hartwell Arena in Helsinki, Finland. Guitarist Joe Satriani has given up trying to bring Chickenfoot together for another album – and he’s planning to form another band instead.
Satriani says he’s tried to persuade singer Sammy Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith to make a follow-up to their second title Chickenfoot III, released in 2011 – but he’s had no luck.He’s decided it’s over despite a brief reunion with Hagar and Smith at a charity concert last month.
Satch tells Ultimate Classic Rock, ”So there was the three of us – three Footers were there, gentlemen of the Foot hanging out. But I get the distinct feeling it’s just not going to happen. For reasons that are too boring to go into, I’ve kind of giving up trying to be the instigator, of trying to get another record done.
At the end of the benefit, although it was one of those fun things with being up there with Sammy and Chad again, I just got the feeling that they’re not thinking it’s on the cards.”
He reveals that much of the material on solo his new solo album Shockwave Supernova, out in July, was originally designed to be Chickenfoot music.
“I recorded all of the demos for a new record,” he says. “I really just couldn’t get people motivated to get going with it. So, that music has moved on. I’m actually looking forward to maybe finding another band to collaborate with.”
But he adds, “If the guys want to do something, I’m always ready for it. I love Chickenfoot, and I think it’s one of the coolest things that’s ever happened to all of us. I’m a bit heartbroken that we weren’t able to work on a couple more albums and tour. But you’ve got to move on – that’s reality. Those guys have other things to do that are important to them, so, I respect it.”
Smith is working on the next Red Hot Chili Peppers album while Hagar’s supergroup The Circle, also featuring Anthony, issued live album At Your Service in May.

The Winery Dogs (Richie Kotzen-lead vocals/guitar, Mike Portnoy-drums, Billy Sheehan-bass) has entered a Los Angeles recording studio to start work on the follow-up to their debut album, which will be self-produced and released in North America this fall on Loud & Proud Records through RED (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) and in the rest of the world via earMUSIC. Details will be announced in the coming months, although fans are already getting news about the band’s fall U.S. tour, which is set to begin October 3rd in Ridgefield, CT at the Ridgefield Playhouse.
The trio exploded onto the Rock scene with their self-titled, self-produced and critically acclaimed debut album that was released July 23rd, 2013 on Loud & Proud Records and a sold-out worldwide tour. The Winery Dogs debuted on Billboard’s “Top Alternative Albums” chart at #3, “Top Independent Albums” chart at #4, “Top Rock Albums” chart at #5, “Top Internet Albums” at #8 and “Top 200 Albums” chart at #27.

On April 15th, 2014, The Winery Dogs released their self-titled, self-produced and critically acclaimed debut album in North America on Loud & Proud Records as two very special editions. The Winery Dogs Special Edition is comprised of two-CDs. Disc 1 is the standard album and Disc 2 is entitled Unleashed In Japan 2013, comprised of 10 songs recorded live in Japan during their July ’13 tour, including Criminal, a track previously unavailable in the U.S., along with a 16-page booklet of live photos and lyrics. Unleashed In Japan 2013 is also available as a stand-alone digital album. Dog Treats: The Winery Dogs Deluxe Special Edition, a limited edition release, is being sold in a box resembling a box of dog treats, and includes the special edition collection of music, a DVD featuring four music videos and interview footage, demos from the original recording sessions, a “studio diary” written by Mike Portnoy, as well as some unique merchandise unavailable elsewhere.
Buckcherry have announced their seventh album, Rock N’Roll, will be released on August 21st through F-Bomb records.
The announcement coincides with the release of a video for single Bring It On Back, which can be viewed below.
The album title is a response to comments made by KISS’ Gene Simmons and others that rock is dead, says frontman Josh Todd.
He says, “There’s been so much talk about how Rock N’Roll is dead and all of this bulls–t. The funny thing is, that’s been going on since we put out our first record in 1999. We wanted to call the new album Rock ‘N’ Roll because this is what we’ve been doing our whole lives. We focused on making a record that encompasses all of what we are. You get every flavor of Buckcherry.”
On the lyrical content of Bring It On Back, Todd comments, “When I’m not on the road, I race go karts for my hobby. The song is really about racing. I had a driver named Kurt Busch in mind when I wrote the lyrics. They call him ‘The Outlaw’ and he’s a badass. It captures that intensity of racing and the mentality. I love it.”

Harnell has expressed a similar sentiment, posting, “If you don’t like the videos or other career stuff I post then don’t comment on my page. Go to some other page with people like you and hate on me or whoever. At least I’m out there working and doing my best!”
After the lineup change had been exclusively revealed on Eddie’s Sirius/XM show, Eddie Trunk Live, Bolan admitted that the band had already started working with Harnell before dismissing Solinger.
He said, “At certain times you just get the feeling someone isn’t putting 100% into things. And Skid Row is very important to the rest of us. And we wanted to carry on with quality performances and quality songs, so we decided to make a change.”
Harnell will appear on the third EP in the band’s United World Rebellion series later this year, and hopes to make a full-length album in 2016.
