TESLA TO RELEASE “MECHANICAL RESONANCE LIVE!” ON AUGUST 26TH

On August 26th, California rockers Tesla will release Mechanical Resonance Live!, a live recording of their classic album, celebrating the original multi-platinum record’s 30th birthday in style. With a few surprises up their sleeve, including the single Save That Goodness written and produced by Phil Collen of Def Leppard, and will be made available via Tesla Electric Company Recordings/Mailboat. The record is being released in conjunction with Tesla’s summer tour opening up for Def Lepard, where they will perform in front of over half a million fans.

Said Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon, “30 years later and the songs on our first album still rock. Making this new live album of Mechanical Resonance was a reminder of the innocence and creative beginnings of Tesla.”

Adds Tesla bassist Brian Wheat, “It was a lot of fun to re-visit some of the songs we hadn’t played in decades and had a great time recording it. ”

Over the course of their thirty-year career, which started in 1986, the iconic Sacramento melodic hard rock quintet — Frank Hannon [guitar], Brian Wheat [bass], Jeff Keith [lead vocals], Troy Luccketta [drums], and Dave Rude [guitar] — has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and played to sold-out crowds across the globe.

The 21st century has become something of a renaissance for Tesla. Most recently, 2014’s Simplicity bowed at number 14 on The Billboard 200. The group ignited ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! in addition to scorching stages at festivals such as Rocklahoma, Graspop Metal Meeting and Sweden Rock Festival as well as the cruise Monsters Of Rock. As they prepare to cut their ninth full-length album with Phil Collen in the producer’s chair, Tesla takes another monumental leap forward as they glance back on “Mechanical Resonance Live!”

Mechanical Resonance Live! track listing:

1. Rock Me to the Top (live)
2. Ez Come Ez Go (live)
3. Gettin’ Better (live)
4. Comin’ Atcha Live (live)
5. Changes (live)

DEF LEPPARD RELEASE VIDEO FOR “MAN ENOUGH”

Def Leppard have released a video for the song Man Enough from their latest self titled album.

Guitarist Phil Collen told TeamRock, “I had this bass riff floating around my head, and I wanted it to have a similar vibe to Billy Jean by Michael Jackson — almost a disco vibe. I didn’t know what it was going to be called, then I played it to [singer] Joe [Elliott] we went to [drummer] Rick Allen’s 50th birthday, and he said, ‘Shit! I’ve got a great idea for this song! And it’s called Are You Man Enough To Be My Girl. People have said it reminds them of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. It has this dancey appeal. Our song All Night was a bit like that, and Excitable on Hysteria. But I think this is the first time we’ve really made it work. It just fell into place, and I think that’s because we didn’t restrict ourselves. Every song on the album’s like that. It was, like, ‘F–k everybody. This album was done for us.’ It wasn’t a business venture. We really didn’t care what anybody thought. We went to town on it; it was a lot of fun.”

SINGER JACK RUSSELL ADMITS THAT HE DRANK HIMSELF INTO COMA

Great White frontman Jack Russell has revealed that he drank himself into a coma last year before getting help to sober up.

The vocalist – who will release his album The Gauntlet later this year under the banner of Jack Russell’s Great White – says he hit rock bottom in his battle with booze in 2015.

Russell tells Music Mania, “I was in a coma eight months ago from drinking too much. The doctor told me when I woke up, ‘If you drink again, your liver’s gonna shut down and you’re gonna die.’ So I’m not gonna take the chance. I’m doing good right now. My body’s in great shape. I’ve been working out. I’ve been running. I just took care of myself, got some muscle on me, and I’m back on stage doing what I used to do. It’s great.”

On what fans can expect from The Gauntlet, Russell adds, “It’s very eclectic. There’s a song called My Addiction, which is straight to the point. There’s no punches drawn about my life and about the things that I’ve been through. There’s a lot of really heavy songs on this record. And the guitar playing is just phenomenal. I’ve never had a guitarist that I’ve ever worked with in all my years that has been as good a guitarist as Robby Lochner.”

Last year, Russell opened up on the “survivor’s guilt” he still feels following the 2003 nightclub fire in Rhode Island that killed 100 people.

STEVEN TYLER SAYS AEROSMITH MAY LAUNCH A FAREWELL TOUR NEXT YEAR, BUT ADDED THAT IT WILL LAST “PROBABLY FOREVER”

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has said the band will stage their farewell tour in 2017.

His comments come after he stated in April that a final road trip was probable – then guitarist Joe Perry reported, “We’re talking about some different options at this point.”

Last month guitarist Brad Whitford said the band had discussed touring without the vocalist, because he was concentrating on his solo album. But Perry said that was “completely untrue.”

Now Tyler tells Howard Stern on SiriusXM, “I love this band. I really do. I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about ‘the band’s over.’ We’re doing a farewell tour – but only because it’s time.”

Asked to confirm the band are planning a final run, he says, “I think so, next year.” On the subject of whether Perry understands that, he replies: “Mmm-hmm.”

But he adds that the tour will last “probably forever,” and refers to The Who having staged several farewells, adding, “I know, can you believe that? How about KISS? They did 19 farewell tours.”

Tyler’s country album We’re All Somebody From Somewhere is released on July 15t. Aerosmith tour South America starting in September, following an appearance at the Kaaboo Festival in California on the weekend of September 16th-18th.
