I was privileged to see the Ozzy, Randy, Sarzo, Aldrich lineup during the Diary tour. My second favorite concert, next to my first KI$$ concert. Randy’s guitar playing with Ozzy, compared to his Quiet Riot years, improved so much. Randy’s status, playing, and contributions to Ozzy made the ‘guitarist” gig in Ozzy’s band a highly coveted/high profile opportunity….and a very difficult gig for anybody taking over the duties due to the constant comparisons to Randy. Jake E Lee and Zakk, both great guitarists, owe some of their celebrity/success to Randy for paving their ways as Ozzy’s guitar players. Randy is still my favorite guitarist to this day, and I still find it amazing how influential Randy still is, considering his limited music output due to his untimely death.
