THE METAL GOD SAYS HE “HOPES” THAT JUDAS PRIEST WILL MAKE ANOTHER RECORD

robhalfordleathersuit Greg Prato of the Long Island Pulse spoke with Judas frontman and Metal God, Rob Halford. Some quotes from the article appear below.

Discussing the band’s performance with James Durbin on American Idolstrong:

“We’d been following what James Durbin had been doing on the show, and James was bringing metal onto American Idol, which no other artist had done up until that point. There was some kickback from certain elements of the metal community, saying, ‘What the hell are you doing? How dare you be on American Idol?’ And our response was, ‘Who would not push back on an opportunity to be in the homes of 30 million viewers in America and beyond?’ It was firstly to do it for James, because he’s a great talent, and then secondly, it was to keep spreading the gospel of metal through Judas Priest.”

Talking about Long Island metalheads:

“I suppose it’s just the fabric of the people there. It’s extremely intense in terms of the passion of the metalheads on Long Island. I guess it’s just what makes Long Island unique, really. It reminds us a little bit of where we’re from, in the Midlands [of England]. The Midlands region is hard-working, tough people that can be in your face but have got your back. And they’re very proud of their heritage and their roots. I think that’s what we get from the Long Island crowd. It’s good to see those words on a tour itinerary.”

On whether he sees Priest continuing beyond Redeemer of Souls and its supporting tour?

“You’re inspired by the initial feedback of enthusiasm and support from your fan base, so that only encourages you to consider going through the process again. After this tour completes—we’ll be working through most of 2015—I’m sure that there will be another opportunity where we finish a touring cycle and we consider what to do next. My hope is that we’ll be making another Priest record.”

REPORT STATES THAT BLACK SABBATH WILL RECORD A NEW ALBUM

blacksabb2013 Black Sabbath are to record a final album together, Ozzy Osbourne has exclusively revealed to Metal Hammer.

The heavy metal legends will team up with producer Rick Rubin once again to record the follow-up to 2013’s hugely successful 13 album.

Speaking to Classic Rock at the end of 2013, Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler were hesitant about the possibility of making one final Sabbath album – “I don’t know if it would be the right thing to do,” Iommi admitted. “But who knows. The history of this band has taught me to never say never” – but frontman Ozzy now says that the band will begin work on the album next year.

“The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great,” says Ozzy. “We all made friends, we didn’t fuck around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we’re going to do one more album, and a final tour. Once the dust settled after the last tour we started discussing the idea, because we were getting asked about it all the time. I said to Sharon ‘What’s going on? Because if there’s no more Sabbath I want to get on with my own thing again’ and she came back and said ‘Let me look into it.’ Three weeks later I asked her about it again, and she said ‘Oh, I still have to talk to so and so…’ and I said ‘Sharon, I ain’t fucking 21 any more, if we’re going to do I want to do it before I’m 70!’ Time isn’t on our side! So she made the call and came back and said ‘Yeah, the record company wants another album.’ I believe Rick Rubin is going to do it with us again.”

Although the trio have no new material written for what will be their fourteenth studio album, Osbourne anticipates that sessions will begin early in 2015.

“It’ll be sooner rather than later,” the singer insists. “Obviously a lot of it is coming down to Tony’s health, he’s obviously got his cancer treatment, but we’ll get onto it next year. I don’t know if we’ll be writing in England or LA, but I’ll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!”

AC/DC’S MALCLOM YOUNG “REPORTEDLY” SUFFERING FROM DEMENTIA AND IN A NURSING HOME

ACDC Malcolm Young Germany 1992 31 Bernard Zuel of The Sydney Morning Herald reports:

It may be that dementia is claiming another giant, this time a musical one.

AC/DC co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Malcolm Young, whose retirement from the band was announced on Wednesday, has been moved into full-time care in a nursing home facility in Sydney’s eastern suburbs specializing in dementia, sources connected to the Young family have said.

The Young family connection said: “If you were in the room with [Malcolm Young] and walked out, then came back in one minute later, he wouldn’t remember who you are. He has a complete loss of short-term memory. His wife, Linda, has put him in full-time care.”

The first official word on what was assumed to be a serious and debilitating, but still undisclosed, illness, was in April when it was confirmed that Young would not be participating in the recording of the next AC/DC album, which will be called Rock Or Bust and is due out in November.

In his place during the recording sessions in a Vancouver studio has been his nephew, Steve.

In an announcement from the band’s management this week, it was revealed that Steve will join Angus Young, frontman Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd on stage when the band embarks on another massive world tour in 2015.

ROCK PHOTOGRAPHER MARK WEISS AUCTIONS OFF PICTURES OF, OZZY, ZAKK, HALFORD AND MORE, FOR CHARITY

markweissandozzyosbourne410 Rock photographer Mark Weiss has posted the following message:

“I am often asked to donate classic rock photographs from my archives. I would have never imagined when I was 16 and sneaking my camera into concerts that I could make a living out of it, much less help out some people in my own hometown by donating the sale of these photos three decades later. My career as a photographer has been a dream come true, and it’s time to give back.

As many of you know, for the past three years I have been passionate about a campaign I started for Lunch Break, the soup kitchen (and so much more) in my hometown of Red Bank, NJ. The campaign is entitled, Feels Like The First Time, and I am donating images from the first time I photographed the musicians in the 70s and 80s, with the proceeds benefitting Lunch Break. After last year’s successful campaign raised more than $10,000, I have teamed up once again with Charitybuzz online auction for Round 2! This year’s auction runs from September 24th to October 15th.

To see the photos that are up for bids, including those of Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, Paul Stanley, Zakk Wylde, Ted Nugent, among others, please go to www.Charitybuzz.com/LunchBreak.
