AC/DC DRUMMER PHIL RUDD ORDERED TO UNDERGO RANDOM DRINK AND DRUG TESTS

New Zealand AC/DC Phil Rudd Paul Chapman of The Telegraph reports:

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd must undergo random testing for drugs and alcohol after allegedly being caught drinking while serving a home detention sentence in New Zealand.

Rudd, 61, was arrested at his luxury waterfront mansion in the North Island city of Tauranga at the weekend, and spent Sunday night behind bars.

He appeared in the Tauranga District Court on Monday, accused of breaching a condition of his home detention prohibiting the possession and consumption of alcohol.

The Australian-born rocker, dressed in a white polo shirt, stood expressionless in the dock as he was granted bail until August 3rd.

His lawyer Craig Tuck entered no plea to the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail or a NZ$2,000 ($1293.51 US dollars) fine.

Mr. Tuck did not oppose a new condition requested by a probation officer that Rudd should be subject to random drug and alcohol testing when required by police.

Police did not oppose Rudd’s release on bail.

As he was escorted from the court, Rudd gesticulated at waiting media before ordering an associate to “gimme the key” and getting into the driving seat of a waiting Jaguar saloon.

Rudd’s arrest came a little over a week after he was convicted and sentenced to eight months’ home detention for threatening to kill an employee, and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

At the time, Judge Thomas Ingram warned him he would go to prison if he breached the terms of his sentence.

“I stone cold guarantee that’s where you’ll end up,” the judge told him then.

Rudd has since lodged an appeal against his conviction and sentence.

Wow, what a character. I love the “gesticulating” comment, Fukn’ classic. This is comedy & tragedy at it best. So sad, sounds like prison is the next logical step in his progression. Makes Charlie Sheen look like a piker.

Obviously, Phil needs help, why the hell isn’t he in rehab? He’s not going to get any better just sitting at home.

That’s a great point Doug. Phil’s as tough as nails but there’s times even the toughest of the tough have to admit defeat and seek help.

Exactly James. Phil needs to man up and take responsibility for himself. He needs to check in, before he checks out. He should stop worrying about saving his career right now, and just worry about saving his life, and get into rehab already! The Judge that sentenced him to home detention, should have sentenced him to rehab instead, otherwise Phil might not make it at all. Take care James.

Hey James, I forgot to ask you, last month when you saw Aerosmith in Hidalgo, did they play “Let The Music Do The Talking?” I heard a rumor that they were finally going to do something from Done With Mirrors on this tour. Such a great, underrated album, I wish they would play it live in it’s entirety! Hell, I’d be happy with even hearing 1 song performed live from the album! Cheers bud!

Unfortunately, they didn’t play anything from that album. I would have liked to have heard “Let The Music Do The Talking” to. The set was great though. They mixed it up it, mostly with hits, but some deeper songs here and there. They opened with “Draw The Line”. They’ve still got that fire in them. They put on a great show.

On a similar note, I saw Judas Priest Monday of last week and, although they were incredible, a slight complaint I have is they only did one song from Defenders Of The Faith (Jawbreaker) and only three songs pre-1980 (Hell Bent For Leather, Victim Of Changes and Beyond The Realms Of Death). It was mostly a set of their biggest hits and three songs from Redeemer Of Souls. I would have loved to have heard them play something else off of Defenders, like “Freewheel Burning, or ” The Sentinel” and dip back into the 70’s and play a deep tracks they haven’t played in decades. That would have been cool. Still, this is just a minor complaint. It was still Judas Priest and they were great as always.

As Stan said in the movie “South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut”,

“Man, that kid is f**ked up!”

His antics this past year would top Motley Crue’s “Behind the Music”. Work your VH1 Classics connections Ed and make it happen.

P.S. That picture looks like an older Tony Montana, had he lived that long. Very appropriate.

the judge might be more lenient if phil wore more than a white polo shirt to court.
