The Van Halen News Desk has released a never heard before instrumental of Van Halen’s Big Fat Money. Listen to it below.

According to the Van Halen News Desk, the solo was recorded on a Gibson ES-335 through Eddie’s Marshall amp. Van Halen was reportedly fooling around with some suggestions Bruce Fairbairn, while unbeknownst to him, Fairbairn was taping his first attempt, and liked what he heard.

A lot of thought went into the coin sound at the end of the song. Everyone crowded around the recording console where they dropped quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies until they got the perfect sound.

  1. No doubt the original VH changed music in its time in many ways and influenced tons of musicians, however this track sounds so similar to so many other VH tunes from the past. As an original VH fan, I would have liked to see the band blossom over the years. Something is stale with the band now, maybe it’s Eddies talentless kid that is ruining it for me.

  2. Sounds a lot like something that would have been put on an album during the VanHagar era. Love that sound and would of been nice if Edward would stop being a d**k and make up with Sammy so we can hear all that great music they recorded together again.

    1. No need to apologize, it’s not your fault. It’s not a big deal, just that dang copyright BS striking again. EVH and/or the label doesn’t want us hearing that track, but I wonder what he’d think about the video I linked to my original post? It’s been on YouTube for quite some time.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
