7/9: THE KISS NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS STORY.

Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

  1. In Paul’s book he mentions this… he says the band went to 50% original, then will drop to 25% original then 0%… which seems to indicate that maybe Gene will be next to bow out and then Paul will follow leaving an official tribute band in his place. Let’s face it… the future is going to be tribute bands whether official or otherwise.

  2. Queen (May & Taylor) did it not too long ago and I thought it was actually very well done, so it can be done tastefully and in a mature manner. However, when you have someone as classless, myopic and soulless as Paul Stanley completely running (or ruining) the KISS ship, it was be little more than a gaudy spectacle comparable with drag queens trying to impersonate either Cher, Diana Ross or Liza. What could happen is that Singer and Thayer could stay on as the “senior Kiss character members” to try and give it some credibility and familiarize fans with these two new guys, but I see it being a disaster. KISS now is a disaster. A piece of turd is still a piece of turd whether you find it on the bottom of your shoe or gift-wrapped in a beautiful gift box.

    1. Plus, they never advertised it as Queen. It was Queen & Paul Rodgers, or Queen & Adam Lambert. As long as Paul & Gene are in the band, I have no issue calling it KISS. Once they are out, KISS is done. They can call it “KISS Alive: The Official KISS Show” and have them have runs in Vegas, Atlantic City, or tour wherever and whenever they want. It will be interesting to see of Tommy and Eric continue on when Paul and Gene hang it up.

  3. I don’t mind it. The original line-up will always be KISS to me. What difference does it make whether there are 3 original members or none? Fact is, if they are not the original 4, Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul, then it doesn’t matter what incarnation they are. Let them go on as Spaceman, Catman, Demon and Starchild. Some will go to the concerts, some will not, some may buy future albums, some not. They are a legacy, I will take my 3 teenage girls to see this tour, introduce them to the world of KISS and see what they do with it. If years go by and my grand kids get into it, then good for them. I follow the Yankees team year to year, not the players. This could be the same thing.

  4. I’m mixed about it. I question the move to not have any original members. Also I’m excited and curious about the song writing. There is no question the song writing has not been great, ever since Revenge. Gene and Paul don’t have it anymore when it comes to writing. Bring in fresh blood see what they bring to the table. I’ve been a fan for 38 years, so bringing in somebody new is risky, but that is what Kiss is all about

  5. I like that Eddie Trunk and his team keep up all comments and views. As a hard rock fan, it’s very interesting to read everyone’s views and go “oh yeah, I never really thought of it that way.” Too many one-sided websites out there, that’s why I appreciate Ed.

    1. Only time a comment is not posted is if it is just name calling, racist and obscene. All views welcome always otherwise
