6/8: RIP CURTIS KAY, JR SMALLING. TOMMY SHAW & FRANKIE BANALI THIS WEEK, ALICE COOPER INVASION THURSDAY, SIGN UP!

Want to take a moment to remember legendary NJ DJ Curtis Kay of WDHA, the first station I ever worked at in the 80’s and early 90’s. Curt was a great broadcaster and more important great person. I grew up listening to Curt as a kid in high school in NJ, before joining the station in 1983 and becoming a co-worker. In a business that can be competitive and cut throat at times, Curt was the total opposite. He was a friend, mentor at times, and influence for sure. Curt lost his battle with cancer over the weekend. I had been in touch with him during his battle and he fought bravely. Even insisting to stay on the air when he was far from his best. But his spirit for rock, DHA and the audience never wavered. RIP Curtis and condolences to his family, friends and fans. He will be greatly missed on the NJ airwaves and even more so for those that knew what a great guy he was to so many.

Also RIP JR Smalling. Early Kiss tour manager and the man you hear intro the band with You Wanted The Best .. on the all time classic Alive album.
