Man another “meh” episode for guests. Other than the Geddy episode the guest list has been kinda weak. Time to start filming in los angeles where there`s a better selection of guests again. I like diverse but cmon freaking run-dmc ? You ,Jim and Don are picking up the slack but lets get some better guests if at all possible. How about bringing in some Steel Panther that would be freaking entertaining. Weid Al would almost be a bonus compared to some of these guys, lol. Alright I`m busting your balls a little bit but you know what I mean.
With all due respect Ray, I think I disagree with you regarding the quality of the show this season. Just looking at the guest musicians alone; Michael Angelo Batio, John Petrucci, John 5, Alex Skolnick….. that’s a group of serious heavy hitters on the second stage. And as for guests, I thought DMC was an awesome guest as was Marky Ramone and Gary Holt. I like the fact that the show cats a wide net and brings in diverse guests. The tent of heavy metal is a big tent and that diversity is reflected in the show this season in my humble opinion.
I agree; I thought the Ramones/DMC/Holt episode was really interesting. It’s kind of fun when you mix things up with the panel and see what happens, particularly when you get 3 guys with such diverse backgrounds.
WHAT?!
The guys from Anthrax not good enough for you? They’re one of the Big 4.
Two guys have been on that have played with Slayer, not good enough? Another Big 4
And they’ve hinted that a member of Metallica will be on later in the season. Yet another Big 4.
As Eddie likes to say, I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
As Skid Row sang, GTFO
Have to disagree, Ray. When I first saw the list of guests this season, I was underwhelmed. However, I was wrong. Every episode has been excellent so far, diversity and all.
I totally disagree with “Ray” above. I am really looking forward to Taylor’s interview. The Pretty Reckless are a rockin’ band, and she represents today’s rock youth. And the guest guitarists have been incredible. TMS, you guys are on the right track.
ray,i agree with you, since pertrucci and geddy, the shows are weak.trunk how about rik emit from triumph.how about ivan from 5 finger death punch.mike mangini from dream theater.claudio from coheed and cambria, trivium, neil schon from journey, good cross over guests would be bob seger, and kid rock.looking forward to mr.SCHENKER
I knew I`d catch some flak but I`m just stating what alot of people including myself are thinking that I talk to. The guest muscians I agree have been cool and in some case would have rather had them get interviewed then some of the featured guests. As far as the big 4 go only metallica and megadeth are big the other 2 are opening acts realistically. Also I`m glad that AJ is going to get discussed this week RIP big man. Oh well the seasons half over and I`m sure it`ll get better but I do think so far this has been the weakest yet for interviewed guests. And dsbill like steel panther sang and sings “it won`t suck itself”
Just my opinion, the problem isn’t who the guests are but how much time that is spent with them. I would have loved to have Eddie really dig in with Markie about the history of the Ramones and the punk influence on music or talk a little more history with Armored Saint. It just seems to scratch the surface and then it’s time to go to another guest or segment. I guess I’m just a quality over quantity guy.
Speaking of quality – big thanks for the Jason Becker interview!!!! It’s a crime VH-1 Classic hasn’t put “Not Dead Yet” on the air yet.
