4/16: JOE ELLIOTT, KROKUS, AC/DC, KARL COCHRAN, A7X, MORE

Thanks to Joe Elliott of Def Leppard for joining me live on air last night. Joe is always great to have on. Still a true fan of music and not afraid to discuss anything pro or con in the bands career. Joe revealed Def Lep have completed 3 new songs for their next album already. Said the band will have equal set time for Kiss tour (each about 1 hour, 20 minutes) and they would play a hit filled set. Joe also is about to release the 3rd album from his side project Down N Outz, a band that covers Mott The Hoople material and more. He did say that band would next do an album of original material. Joe is also producing new music from Ricky Warwick of Black Star Riders, who was there at the time he called me from Ireland. You can hear the interview On Demand on the SiriusXM app. Search Trunk Nation under shows tab.

Also had Chris Von Rohr from Krokus call in. They have a new live album out Tuesday. Chris explained the band would love to tour the US and hopes interest will get to a point that they can afford to come over. We shall see. The band is still successful with their new music in their native Switzerland but not really enough demand here yet for them to tour.

Lot’s of questions about all the conflicting AC/DC news. We are in a world of “media” where everyone and anyone can float a story out there online, have it picked up by other sites, and become “news”. Until there is a real report from the official AC/DC camp I’ll wait to discuss. Until then nobody really knows what is going on. I do know I have heard for a long time now someone in the band was not well, and it is widely believed to me Malcolm. Let’s hope he is okay and we get one more run from this iconic band. But if they are not at full strength like all the bands I love I would rather see them end than not be great or have key members.

Some encouraging new regarding my friend and guitarist Karl Cochran. Karl who played with Ace Frehley and plays with Joe Lynn Turner amongst others suffered a very serious stroke. He still has a long road back but has now been moved to a rehab facility. Keep Karl in your thoughts and prayers. Great guy and musician. Hope to visit him once he stabilizes a bit more. Get well bud!

Don’t forget just added a new appearance in S Florida at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood FL 4/30. I’ll be hosting Avenged Sevenfold & Hellyeah that night. Meet me in front of Hard Rock Live at 6P that night. Books for sale and signed as well. Always great to hang at this awesome resort, hope to see you.

I leave for LA Monday for the Golden Gods Awards next Wednesday, then from there straight to Baltimore for M3. I will be selling and signing my books at M3 at the Chuck Levins Washington Music Center tent at around 3 and 6P on the Saturday. Because I have limited time away from the main stage for this signing you must have a book or purchase one to get in line. I usually never do that but time is limited this time around and the only way to control the amount of people. Last time I was out there for 3 hours and just can’t do that with my duties being on stage. Hope to see you at M3 as well as Rocklahoma which is coming up too. More soon.

Back live on Q104.3 this Friday night 11P ET. More soon.

I love you Eddie, but are you kidding my with this Obama care shit? The guys is the single most dangerous threat to us there has ever been. He wants to pull the same shit the PMRC did back in the day with IRS scandal! Stick to the metal and hard rock stuff, and leave out that traitorous socialist pig Obama! Up the Irons \m/

Honestly do you think I am writing about politics here? The simple truth is a friend of mine who is a musician was finally able to buy health coverage and did two days before a catastrophic illness happened to him. If he didn’t he would be BROKE right now AND dealing with a stroke. I pay a shitload of money for health coverage and see all sides of it. Just a simple FACT that this was an instance where being able to get coverage just saved a friend from MASSIVE debt by a matter of days…

BOTTOM LINE, obamacare makes Obama richer, AND EVERYONE ELSE POORER! one way or another, sooner or later, THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE! THAT’S THE “REAL TRUTH”!

    • DC on

Eddie, ignore these fools. Ignoramuses don’t like facts. Glad the guy was able to score insurance before his illness and hope he recovers fully. Everyone should have that opportunity, and now everyone does, thankfully.

YOU ARE THE BIGGEST FOOL OF ALL IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE YOUR OWN WORDS, THE FACTS ARE EVERYONE ALREADY HAD THE OPPURTUNITY FOR REAL AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE INSURANCE WITHOUT SUPPORTING obama’s AGENDA. IF YOU COMBINE MEDICARE/MEDICAID WITH ANOTHER SUPPLIMENTRY INSURANCE PLAN, YOU’RE GOOD TO GO! WE ALL HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR EDDIE’S FRIEND, AND WE ALL HOPE 2016 COMES REALLY FAST, SO THEN WE CAN WIPE THE SLATE CLEAN AND START ERASING ALL THE MESSES & MISTAKES obama HAS MADE, EPECIALLY obamacare! ROCK ON TO 2016!

ONE MORE THING, GOD BLESS TED NUGENT!! AT LEAST SOMEBODY IN THE MUSIC WORLD GET’S IT, HE’S NOT AFFRAID TO SPEAK HIS MIND, ESPECIALLY ABOUT obama! ROCK ON UNCLE TED!

      Look Doug,

You are clearly disconnected from reality and that’s ok. Let me clear it up for you. 1st if you work or are self employed part of your employment taxes go to the medicare medicaid program. The intent is healthy young people contribute and when you reach retirement its there for your use. However if you become disabled prior to retirement you collect earlier than intended. It typically covers 80% of most charges. This isn’t to be confuse with SSI or disability; those are also separate programs. The other program you are speaking of is Medicare gap coverage which is a policy you need to take out and has costs associated with it. Also doesn’t cover scripts that’s another policy……

So as you can see medicare, medicaid, social security are not an answer for the unemployed, those out of work or without income. The program was meant to help aging adults and those that are disabled with medical and living expenses.

The new healthcare reform act seeks to provide an insurance option for the young, self employed and those unable to afford a full service healthcare plan. Granted, funding it may not have been well thought out and probably should have come from an increase in the unemployment tax per state but as with anything new, its trial and error.

You may not realize it because your so consumed with anger and media hype but prior to the new legislation health insurance companies didn’t have to cover pre-existing issues if there was more than a 60 day gap in coverage from one policy to another. Most peole cant afford the COBRA coverage (which is nothing more than legislation stating you have the right to pay the group rate you were currently in at the full expense plus a 2% admin fee. Most corporations pay 50% or more of the cost of health insurance. A single individual group policy, depending on age and if you smoke, typically costs 4 – 500 a month. An individual policy almost double that without a group rate which you can only get if you have employees and a business.

I know Karl well and the life of a musician isn’t always what its cracked up to be. Luckily he had an affordable option and took advantage of it. This illness will 100’s of thousands of dollars and I am fairly certain insurance will not cover it 100%. If you can work a calculator take 20% of 200K…. let me do it for you so you don’t hurt yourself…. its 40K.

Still wanna bang on an administration that provided an an option to save 160K?
No insurance, your answer – file bankruptcy and guess who gets that 200K bill…. you! you moron.. the tax payer in the state it occurred. Else the hospital goes bankrupt and now your insured ass has no where to go when your sick.

I am not supporting or defending the administration. I am supporting the program as it is needed for the general public and the greater good of society.

Friggin idiot……….. its amazes me that people with little education and no knowledge of what they are talking about have the most to say.

I know way support obamacare on many levels. If Karl had no insurance they would have bankrupt him and stuck the taxpayers with more debt or it just forces hospitols to raise cost, so either way we are screwed. But we need to show compassion to our fellow brothers and sisters and I like to live in a society where people would help each other in need. Obamacare is not even close to being free for many, in fact in some cases for me it isn’t even affordable. Anyways Eddie, you said nothing wrong you just care about a friend.

Eddie I kind of felt bad for the guy from Krokus. He is under the impression we in the States are satuarated with hard rock stations and business is doing good. When in fact you are really the main guy promoting our music. Even when you were kindly telling him the real truth, I could tell his bubble was bursting, but he still maintained the denial wall. How is it possible for any foreign band not to understand the music situation in America, simply google on internet would tell you this.

  • DC on

Eddie, a few weeks ago, you mention this band called “Angel,” who I’ve never heard of, and that there was never any footage of them. I was reading over at HardRadio and this popped up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mmgp0ahAIoA

    Short, but interesting.

And, guys, PLEASE just STOP with the insanely inflammatory (and ignorant, at best) ACA remarks. You guys are making yourselves sound and look like morons.

  • Mike on

That’s great. So he’s the one guy the Unaffordable Careless Act worked for.
Now everyone’s rate has gone up because of the preexisting conditions. It’s like calling the insurance company when your house is on fire and signing up then. If everyone did this, there wouldn’t be any insurance companies. Rates and premiums have jumped up because of these policies. People are having to subsidize for someone else’s medical care. Here are some facts about Obamacare/Obama’s recession since their are some drones on here who only get their information from CNN or MSNBC or NYT equivalent.
-9 out of 10 people signing up for Obamacare are being put on Medicaid. They have rewritten the qualifications so more people qualify.
-85% people liked their health care before Obamacare.
-Health care costs have gone up an average of 39% since Obamacare.
-Over 6 million people lost their health insurance.
-Cancer patients are being denied treatment/medication.
-78% of jobs added are part time.
-11.5 million less people in the work force than when Obama took office.
-46 million people on food stamps.
    -47 million living in poverty.
-Median income has gone down 4,500.
-Debt has grown to 17.5 trillion.
-128 trillion dollars in Unfunded Liabilities.
-Food costs are at an all time high.
-Gas prices were $1.83 when he entered office and now they are around $3.75.
I could go on and on of how much worse off we are now today than before Obama took office. However, these drones drink the liberal media Kool-Aid. These politicians always pass bills and claim they are for the people and they do the exact opposite. They name the bill/law the exact opposite of what it does. Classic example is the ACA.
I came here to get news on music/artists instead I read an Obamacare plug.

    • Eddie on

wow, all I said was my friend got health coverage finally minutes before getting sick and touched off a political debate?

    • Mike on

It wasn’t necessarily geared towards what you said. Some of the comments made were baseless in factual information.
As you can see by other comments in this thread, Obamacare is a sore subject. This law has impacted me personally and relatives in a very negative way. People need to realize this bill may help a few but it’s affecting more people in drastic ways. The worst part of this law has been delayed until after the 2014 elections. I’m not going to sit idle while people perpetuate lies.
