I think based on technology, especially short videos, making most of the youth’s attention spans extremely short, yes, releasing singles is probably a smarter business model. It is the older fan base, that will most likely prefer a complete album.
Although, I must say, even in my youth, I would have preferred if bands had shorter EP’s that were all killer, no filler. I also remember the days of 45 records, where one could buy just a hit single.

Good question! I prefer albums, but not 15 songs. Ten songs, no filler. I loved getting 45s when I was a kid. They were a buck, the album was 6 bucks. Now a single would cost…? It also depends on the band. If they have a couple cool tunes, not worth an album.

I completely agree and that is why I mentioned EPs, most are 7-9 songs.
Well, me being the old school guy that I am, I’ll take a full length album any day! Especially if it’s from a well established favorite artist of mine, growing up in the ’70s and ’80s I would buy 45’s and albums as well, mainly because alot of the 45’s were the actual song versions you would here on the radio, better mixes, etc…
However alot of times the album version of the song was better, it just depended on which song it was, and the artist of course! Nothing wrong with having the best of both worlds!
