QUESTION OF THE WEEK: IF YOU COULD CREATE YOUR OWN ROCK HALL OF FAME, WHERE WOULD IT BE LOCATED AND WHO WOULD BE THE INITAL INDUCEES?

I am torn about the location, but I believe it should either reside in New York City or Los Angeles.

First inducees: Now of course, I would immediately want to induct Judas Priest, AC/DC, Ozzy, etc. But, if we are going to be fair, we need to induct those who influenced those bands and who stared the craze.

So… Elvis, Little Richard, The Big Bopper, Chubby Checker, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, etc. The second round would include The Beatles, The Stones, etc.

  1. Just scored two 5th row tickets for the Stray Cats in November, price wasn’t bad, except for the service fee ($40.00) and the tax ($21.00) total of $280.90 for 2 tix. Anyway, got me thinking, why the hell aren’t the Stray Cats in the R&RHOF?? They would definitely be in my top 10 inductees!

    1. I suppose it depends on what school of thought one comes from. Its main historical roots have blues & rock in them and I think they are. And it’s debatable. From what I learned in music classes 20 years ago, Reggae is a sub-genre of Rock. Yet, so is Rap.

    2. I suppose, a case could be made for Reggae, as I can hear R&B in it, but (C)Rap? Hell no.

Unless one has a very low bar, and considers using samples of existing rock songs, as a qualifier. I don’t…and consider it cheating. So no, it is definitely NOT rock to me.

    3. They are @Doug R? I looked last night for ‘Bob Marley & The Wailers’ and at least on google it said they weren’t……..thanks for the correction. I looked again under just Bob and see now. Really glad he was. Cheers
