QUESTION OF THE WEEK: AS PER POSTER RICH, WHICH ARTISTS DO YOU THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK N’ ROLL HALL OF FAME AND HAVE NOT BEEN YET OR YOU FEEL HAVE BEEN SNUBBED?
At this point, and despite my disdain for Tommy Lee as a human, Motley Crue is arguably the biggest snub.
However, record sales and fan base are the true measures of rock hall requirements in my book. Although difficult to measure today because the new generation doesn’t believe in paying for music, the bands that should be in but are not have the record sales and fan base to make their claim. And to me, that matters more than the actual induction into the liberal country club in Cleveland.
2 – As a solo artist: Sammy Hagar (I don’t think he’s in other than with Van Halen)
3 – Motorhead
4 – Whitesnake
I also agree with some of the other posters about Ronnie James Dio (Let’s include Rainbow in that as well). Am I right in thinking that Joan Jett got inducted a little while ago? If so – what about Lita Ford?
Yep, agree 100% on the Scorpions! And of course Sammy Hagar, Roth should be in as well, Boston, and the list goes on and on…
Unfortunately that little peice of factory made plastic sh-t Justin Beaver and all those silly little boy bands will probably get in before the rest of the real musicians/artists
I think Hanoi Rocks should get in. They set the seen for future glam bands. I think bands that had consistency over bands with very little great albums should get better in. LA Guns , Overkill, Tesla, Primus , Dream Theatre, Ratt, Helloween, Shadow Falls, In Flames, Blind Guardian, and many others I forgot to name should be in.
No clue really which bands are already in it besides a very select few. Is AC/DC in? Sure hope so.
Dio for sure needs to be in it, he was only part of three incredible bands and wrote some awesome lyrics while being one of the best singers the world has ever seen. Fkin shame he’s been left out.
Slayer, should be, but I hope they never are because screw the hall of shame lol But c’mon, how the Hell aren’t they in? They fill up stadiums either touring on their own or headlining festivals. First real extreme metal band to really get to that kind of level. Most bands singing about screwing dead people and worshipping Satan don’t get to the level Slayer has. That should tell you how good they are and deserving.
I also think Venom should be. Just for the simple fact that they were really the first extreme metal band period. They did start a new genre called black metal. Commercial success shouldn’t be the only thing that gets you in.
Other bands like Scorpions and Motörhead should definitely be in. Scorpions been doing it since the early 70’s. Actually formed in the late 60’s. Put out some incredible music in the 70’s nobody ever talks about, then transformed their sound completely to become one of the biggest bands in the world during the 80’s. Still putting out great stuff to date. Motörhead! Lemmy gave his life to the music, releasing just great album after great album. One of the most overlooked lyrical geniuses of our time! He lived rock n roll.
Blue Oyster Cult in it? If not, they need to be! Countless great songs, many radio hits, some of the best musicians on the planet and been doing it fifty plus years.
Uriah Heep, same story as BOC IMO. Great band. Not as many hits, but incredible musicians that influenced many rock stars to this day.
Those to me are the biggest snubs I can think of. None of them really bother me, because i wouldn’t want them sharing the stage with the garbage bands that have been inducted as it is. They are all part of my Hall of Fame, screw the Hall of Shame!
I do remember that they were the first, or one of the first, hard rock/heavy metal band to be inducted, and you are correct, my British Bud, they were inducted in 2003.
Wrecked Neck, great observations about Slayer and Venom. As you mention, Slayer (my favorite thrash band cuz of their consistency) earned their success with ZERO radio airplay, dark lyrical content, and opposing religious views. Venom, too, also was dark and they pioneered extreme heavy metal. Both great bands worthy of the RRHOF…and both great bands that don’t give a sh-t about the RRHOF.

Personally I’d like to see the remainder of the Big Four get in; Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer.
Thrash Metal is not for everyone but decades of them playing festivals with tens of thousands of fans in attendance, still to this date!
Well deserved and WAY overdue!! If and when it happens who knows?!?! I mean, look how long it took Priest and Maiden to get in….

Danny,
Great point.

AC/DC went in around 2003 I believe.
