Original KISS drummer Peter Criss has released the following statement about the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame induction:
“To KISS fans,
It’s disappointing to have to say to you, the fans, that as of today, Ace and I have been denied a performance with Gene and Paul for our Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Tickets go on sale on Monday, February 24th, and I wanted to make sure that fans understood that no original performance, in or out of makeup, has been offered to us before they purchased their tickets. This is disgraceful and I feel bad for the fans who were looking forward to the four of us being inducted together.
God Bless,
Peter Criss – The Catman”

Since when should Peter Criss and Ace Frehley command so much respect? What have these two knuckleheads contributed to this band in the last 32 years? Their performances were horrid during the reunion shows and they were on what? one song each on Psycho Circus. Peter is completely useless. If he did not get lucky with Beth(worst Kiss song ever) his contributions would be nothing. Sorry folks it’s better off they do not play. Unfortunately for Paul, who at one point was one of the greatest rock and roll singers ever, his voice is shot. Ace hits about one out every 5 notes correctly on his guitar solos. Peter was always a crappy drummer and probably cannot even lift a drum stick right now. Everybody, including Bruce Kulick and Vinnie Vincent, should be there to accept the award (even though the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke). But my god there is no way they could play, it would be a catastrophe.
Right on!
Hey Peter,
You’re bio was the best ever. I really loved it. This winter I got into watching OZ on DVD and your performance as Marty Montgomery was really cool. The guy playing Stanton was way over the top as well. As far as the reunion would have gone, it could have been fun but their is still tons of great music featuring the original line-up out there. You sang the original and even better the ALIVE version of BLACK DIAMOND and that is KISSes greatest moment ’till this day. Best wishes to an all-time great.
I’m sorry it is: Your bio was the best….
Certainly we don’t know what has been said behind the Superman curtain between the band. All we get is Ace and Peter’s side at this point and a watered down statement from Gene and Paul. Where are Tommy and Eric in all this? I think they should step aside graciously. I tried getting on Gene’s website and it appears to have been crashed. Everyone is blaming Gene, but wouldn’t it be funny if we found out after all these years that it was Paul that was pulling the strings?
The bottom line here is this…Gene and Paul…you say that everything the band does is for the fans. This is probably the most important time you can do something for the FANS and not your pocketbook, pride, or ego. Both you guys have acted before. Why can’t you put on a face one more time for THE FANS and interact with P & A or are you both too far gone to realize that us fans buy your tickets, tourbooks, t-shirts, stupid and poorly put together DOLLS…and whatever else you pollute the economy with…oh ya, let’s not forget about that POS of a 3 foot book. Who in their right minds thought that one up??? The average Joe didn’t buy it cuz he couldn’t afford the thing and the old KISS fan that was a KISS fan as a kid didn’t buy the stupid thing because he would’ve been embarrassed to put that coffee table on the coffee table!!!
Anyway…G & P, it’s time to put down the ego’s and do the right thing…
it is paul controlling the band now . Rolling stone interview with gene gene said he had no problem with playing with ace and peter but no reunion tour . paul gets on twitter to answer some questions and said no way with playing with ace and peter in makeup
Spike … you’re a turd that needs flushing.
Who cares about Peter Criss? MILLIONS of us Pete, MILLIONS.
Take care catman!
Ahhhh so you speak for millions? What a pretentious turd.
This really is a complete tangled mess. I’m a fan dating back to 1975. I admit to enjoying ALL incarnations of KISS. And I am a fan of the original band the most, like many of you. Peter Criss is THE reason I started playing drums. But I will say this in all honesty. I think part of the reason (and I say only PART of the reason, but an important one) Paul and Gene don’t want to play with Ace and Peter is that their musical capabilities have diminished greatly over the past decade, and to play at the RRHOF Ceremony and sound awful because of it, would be embarrassing beyond belief for everyone involved. Fans , band, and the audience. Peter can barely hit the skins with any meaningful force any more, due to arm pain he suffered, going all the way back to the Reunion Tour in 1996. I heard it with my own ears too many times when I saw KISS during the Psycho Circus Tour (or what I like to call The ‘Not So Psycho Circus Tour’) and the Farewell Tour in 2000. Ace especially was playing horribly. Peter, not that much better. I was very disappointed. Ace and Peter’s lack of professionalism to deliver a sober show for the fans and play well was a slap in the face to KISS fans.
Ace Frehley’s playing has gotten much better since he allegedly became sober. His last album ‘Anomaly’ proves that. But I really do feel this is an under-lying concern for Paul and Gene. I really do
But man – this is still a bitter disappointment. I was AT LEAST hoping for the four guys that made me LOVE music, when I first heard KISS Alive! when I was 12 years old, to get on that stage TOGETHER, even if it is in their street clothes, and accept this award on behalf of US. The fans that put them there.
Thanks for listening…
