KISS’ GENE SIMMONS SAYS “THERE IS SOME WRITING GOING ON”
KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons reports that he and the band are writing new material.
Back in March, Simmons said that he had no inclination to record a new KISS album due to the fact some people would “steal it and download it and file share it.” Although, he maintains that stance, he says things are going on behind the scenes.
He tells the Michael Cavacini blog, “There’s some writing going on. Not too long ago I wrote a song called Your Wish Is My Command. It sounds anthemic, like something that might have come off Love Gun, maybe. But I’m not incentivised.
The idea that you work your ass off and then someone with freckles on their face decides they want to download your music and file share – that’s not what I work for.
How’d you like to be a plumber, come over somebody’s house and work all day to fix their plumbing and then when it’s time to get paid they say, ‘No, I just wanted to say thank you.’ No.
Simmons added “I’ve heard people say, ‘Oh, you have enough money.’ That’s what I need – an 18-year-old kid telling me when enough is enough.
It doesn’t affect me at all. And it doesn’t affect the Stones or U2 – a lot of the bands that do well. There’s only a handful, actually.
The saddest thing of all is that the next great bands, with the talent and the charisma and all that stuff, will never have the chance that we did – because there’s no music industry.
There’s no way for them to pay the rent. They’re going to have to give away their music, practically, for free.”

I used to love kiss I’ve been done for awhile now even before paul lost his voice , there really is no commercial point of putting out new music Gene is correct , file sharing not only killed rock it killed the music business – just listen to the garbage that is popular – no new rock band has any hope of making a living – it is sad , was the price of a cd that high that you had to steal music ??? I don’t remember ever complaining it was to expensive – you reap what you sow –
Why would I want new material from a band with a lead singer whose voice is completely shot? Does anyone ant an album with gene singing all the songs? What right does paul have to stay in a band ehn he can no longer deliver what his part requires? Does anyone remember the way he bashed Ace and Peter for not being able to give 100% – he has been on 50% and lower for years now … Does anyone notice what is just going on on their tour through Europe? He just cannot do it anything anymore, let’s face it – he at least could do it for the most part two years back in Berlin – but now …you may gloss over in the studio, but for a real PS song you need these upper registers, which are impossible for him to do now. – So as a long-time fan I went to a concert on the current Kiss World Tour – Paul heavily struggling even though he only sings verses and small bits of the chorusses now – Gene looking irritated and tired when up in the rig doing God of Thunder, lossing it on the lyrics several times, all of them barely moving around, a stage set that only consists of bare rigs and screens, ending the main setlist with Rock’n Roll all Night and confetti and all – why?? I got the impression: in case they would be too tired to do the encore – which was partly true, because instead of doing three encores like on the previous nights and ending it with a big bang they only did two and Paul just quickly mumbled “Good night” into the mic, they quickly vanished – and 20 seceonds later the hall lights went on … what an embarrassment! The audience was clearly fuddled – hey, no real ending to the concert that is always advertised as “the best”, no theatrics, no final fireworks?? – This is the end – even if they do yet another tour or album – the band that cannot rightfully call themselves Kiss anymore. End of matter – and very very sad they did not find a good ay out.
I could not have said it any better el loco – but , they are rich and can do what they want to do- paul must still be having fun ?? that’s the only thing I can think of , or a combo of greed & pride … almost the same as an athlete past his prime struggling to hang in one more season .. its sad… kiss is going to go out like Muhammad ali – struggling , beat up, and ultimately on the losing end of the fight – time to throw in the towel –

i really get nothing out of new material from these older bands putting out new music,i know alot of people wont agree with me,but for me i find it forced when a 65 year old guy is trying to write cool songs about getting laid,or partying,or the such.when they were young like us all.,they were writing songs about the times they were living in,or the things they were doing,but this so far along in the game with these guys,they are rich and so very far removed from everyday life,that it sounds so fake and ingenious .i just cant get into it,so for me please dont record anymore .and as far as kiss esp please dont sing anymore,its just painful and insulting to here paul anymore.all his talk about peter and ace and who ever not being able to pull there weight in the band for what ever reason had to go,well he should have went around 2011.hes a joke now.whats good for the goose you know
