KISS’ GENE SIMMONS SAYS THE BAND WOULD NEVER REUNITE WITH FORMER BAND MEMBERS ACE FREHLEY AND PETER CRISS

Gene-Simmons400 KISS’ singing bassist Gene Simmons says that although the band have reunited with former members Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) in the past, that fans should not expect that to happen in the future.

Speaking with The Tampa Tribute, Simmons was asked if the band would ever consider reuniting if their two estranged members “cleaned up their act.” The bassist stated, “Not a chance. We’ve already danced that dance three different times. No way will we reunite. It wouldn’t be fair to [current members] Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer]. It wouldn’t be right.”

Simmons also addressed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with Criss and Frehley, adding, “We only did the induction with Ace and Peter because the fans wanted it. But it was a slap in the fact that they didn’t acknowledge Tommy Thayer and Eric. They’ve been in the band longer than Ace and Peter. If the Grateful Dead can have 10 members in and out of the band and a lyricist who was never in the band in the Hall, how can you explain that?”

KISS are currently on tour with Def Leppard.

  1. I really don’t like to come across as a jerk, but then again I likely don’t care in the end. Having said that, I cannot help getting the impression the the fans that are still in love with what KISS is doing (and are continuing to do) are nothing but sycophants. I would rather have fans telling me they expect better than fans who would applaud me for taking a dump on them.

  2. Something happened to Paul’s voice after the Farewell Tour and every tour since then its gotten progressively worse. A good example is to go watch that Lovegun performance on American Idle a few months ago where KISS performed with the dude that won the whole thing (Caleb….I think his name is?) Paul’s voice is a combination of out of key\off pitch and warbling. Sure, on this current tour he looks good and plays his instrument well, but he’s the lead vocalist for Christ’s sake! Who wants to see an upscale cover band with two impersonators who can play their instruments well but have a lead singer that can’t sing? Talk about ripping off the fans. Honestly, I’ll bet this is their last US Tour because they can’t keep riding on the coat tails of still credible bands like Def Leppard. The fans are catching on and so are the bands KISS has to tour with to sell tickets. That rumored TV talent show where Gene and Paul audition and pick four replacement members to carry on the KISS name can’t come fast enough. Have some dignity and maybe try and preserve a little of what’s left of the KISS legacy Gene and Paul.
