KISS’ singing bassist Gene Simmons says that although the band have reunited with former members Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) in the past, that fans should not expect that to happen in the future.
Speaking with The Tampa Tribute, Simmons was asked if the band would ever consider reuniting if their two estranged members “cleaned up their act.” The bassist stated, “Not a chance. We’ve already danced that dance three different times. No way will we reunite. It wouldn’t be fair to [current members] Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer]. It wouldn’t be right.”
Simmons also addressed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with Criss and Frehley, adding, “We only did the induction with Ace and Peter because the fans wanted it. But it was a slap in the fact that they didn’t acknowledge Tommy Thayer and Eric. They’ve been in the band longer than Ace and Peter. If the Grateful Dead can have 10 members in and out of the band and a lyricist who was never in the band in the Hall, how can you explain that?”
KISS are currently on tour with Def Leppard.

I agree . I think with original kiss it would have been a very very big celebration to original band a d the fans who where their from the beginning and what does gene n paul do they ruin it because of r heir own personal silly r ediculious reasons for what is now a blow back for wanting a bunch of imposters wearing two of the original members makeup n better yet to perform on stage. I know now that it will never happen but I also know I won’t ever shell out a single cent on that band again.gene n PAul have urine kiss as far as im concerned and im very much looking forward for ace new album and will buy it . Not download it. I come from an era where u bought your music and support the band nothing is free.
PLEASE RETIRE AND GO AWAY ALREADY GENE. KISS REALLY SUCKS WITH THIS LINEUP!!!
Ughhhhh stop whining already you 40-something jealous adolescents! The man was asked a question and he answered it. You people are really sad and pathetic.
Lols….”sad and pathetic”…..the pot calling the kettle black
Ace and Peter should’ve been the only guitarist/drummer of Kiss to be in the Hall. It was said that they were inducted because they were so influential. That is the only line-up of Kiss that was worth anything. All versions of the band after them were not influential in the slightest. In the 80s they just copied the hairbands and put out garbage music, for the most part.
And do we really need another story about how Kiss isn’t bringing back Ace and Peter?
Enough already! We get it!
Listen to the late great Eric Carr’s drumming on Creatures of the Night and tell me that’s not inspiring and/or influential. His drumming on that album is BADASS! One of the best drum sounds ever recorded in my opinion. Creatures is probably THE most underrated album in Kiss’ entire discography and the star and inspiration of that album is Eric. Agreed, most of their 80’s albums don’t have the fire and magic of the older stuff, but not the case with Creatures of the Night. That’s Kiss’ most all out heavy metal album for sure. Anyone that hasn’t heard that album is missing out.
And another fact about that album is that even though Ace is on the original album cover, he doesn’t play on the album. Yet, there’s some of the heaviest riffs and best playing of Kiss’ career on that album. Ace was from the beginning and is still to this day my favorite member of Kiss. Anyone who’s read my Kiss posts should be able to pick up on that. I’ve been playing the guitar for almost 35 years and Ace was my first guitar hero and is still one of my guitar heroes today. But Ace played no part on what I think is one of the best Kiss albums of all time.
Agreed. Eric Carr should be in the HOF if KISS is in the HOF. COTN, along with Eric and Vinny was an incredible record that was just released at an inopportune time. I would suggest it was ahead of its time. IMO, the most underrated of all KISS albums.
Yeah, it was released at a bad time in their career. It was the album that followed Music From The Elder, which was an AWFUL album. But when the follow-up to Creatures of the Night, Lick It Up, came out and was successful, much more so than Creatures of the Night had been, it proved people were judging Kiss with their eyes, not their ears because the big thing with Lick It Up was the fact that the makeup was gone. Creatures of the Night is a much better album than Lick It Up, perhaps even arguably the best album Kiss did in the 80’s.
I’m happy to say that I could not care less st this point. Ace is moving forward and seems content. Peter is staying relatively quiet and paul and gene are acting like total douches. Stop insulting the memories of your long-term fans. Continue to play with their robot replacements from the phantom movie and stfu.
