GWAR SINGER DAVE BROCKIE, A.K.A. ODERUS URUNGUS, DEATH CAUSED BY A HEROIN OVERDOSE

gwar400 The Virginia medical examiner’s office says Dave Brockie, the frontman for the heavy metal band Gwar, died of an accidental heroin overdose.

Brockie — who went by the stage name Oderus Urungus — was found dead in his Richmond home on March 23rd. He was 50.

Arkuie Williams, administrator at the chief medical examiner’s office, said on June 3rd that Brockie’s cause of death was acute heroin toxicity.

The Grammy-nominated band Gwar was founded in 1984 and is known for its comically grotesque costumes, stage antics and vulgar lyrics.

Gwar released its latest album in 2013 and recently toured Australia and Japan.

Brockie remained a constant in the band, which has had a revolving door of members. In 2011, 34-year-old lead guitarist Cory Smoot was found dead on the band’s tour bus.

There’s nothing “accidental” about an overdose. You play with fire sooner or later you’ll get burned. The whole Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘N Roll lifestyle. There’s nothing wrong with the sex and rock ‘n roll part, but drugs is just plain dumb. It’s not hip and it’s not cool. Nobody comes back from death. Ask Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley just to name a few. Oh that’s right, you can’t ask them!

Sad but at the same time he did this to him self! He made a choice to do drugs. In this day in age addiction is not a excuse it’s a life style you chose to live that life. Wish these jack asses would stop killing them self’s to much talent being wasted for know other reason than choice. and the sad part is there someone on here right now that’s using knowing Dave died from the very drugs there using not even getting the point of it.

It is a sad news to find out what took him away. He will be miss. I always enjoying watching and listening to Gwar. My sympathies to the family, to the band and to my fello metal friends. For the people that think heavy metal music is noising then you are not are friends and do not know anything about music.

Not surprised by this news. So sad when fellow humanoids don’t realize there’s much worse things than being a drug addict on this 3rd rock from the sun.
