Not being a hater here, but while I think it’s great this new band continues to get exposure, I think it would be equally great to see some articles about other new bands, such as Ghost! Like GVF, Ghost were also influenced by 70’s era bands, such as KI$$, Blue Oyster Cult, and Sabbath. And while Ghost’s shtick and lyrical content might be offensive to some, I think they write great, catchy, radio worthy songs.

I agree, though Eddie has gone on record several times now saying he didn’t “get” Ghost, or the vocals or something. One of the best “bands” in years though, along with Greta.

Well I don’t know how I feel about this band. At first listen I’m like this is awesome. The singer sounds like a mix of Plant and Geddy Lee. The music is very bluesy classic rock like Zeppelin and Rival Sons. And that’s where I’m kind of let down slightly. If i want to hear Zeppelin I’ll put them in my cd player and crank it. I’ve listened to 5 GVF songs on spotify so far. There’s no denying they sound good. But in each of those songs I can hear blatant Zeppelin songs used as the blueprint for the GVF song I’m listening to, specific notes. Hopefully GVF can progress into something more of their own while staying true to their classic rock vibe. Again no denying they sound great but let’s see where they take it from here.
As far as Ghost, definitely unique, weird, strange and I don’t know WTF lol. I’ve listened to the most recent record. I like a few tunes but overall just not my thing. I’m not a bible thumper but I am a Christian and Ghost’s theme and lyrical content kind of go against my Christianity. I have that right to be a Christian and follow my beliefs.

Maybe if a member of Ghost teamed up with Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan and Ace Frehley, Eddie woukd give the band more attention haha

Frank, I had this conversation with my friend this afternoon , I agree with you completely with this band – hopefully as they mature and grow they will be able to write their own original music , and find their own voice , rival sons on the other hand while influenced by zep- are not copy catting their songs they have their own sound and style – I don’t get ghost either lol

Ghost is fantastic but not a new band…their first album came out 8 years ago. Trunk isn’t a fan and there will probably never be any news on them on here, which is sad. Don and Jim talked about them on TMS, but that was the extent of it. I get ripped on here all the time for liking Steel Panther, but they are a fairly big band and they’ll never get any exposure here for the same reason. This is a rock and metal page, but we know what to expect. There are other pages for news on those bands that aren’t liked here that I guess we have to make due with. Back to Ghost…I go to church on a regular basis, but also love the band for what they are. They’re not satanists, but have a schtick that they do very well. Their shows are fantastic, and they’ve got a massive fan base so they should be covered here.

Ghost is pretty good, but I like Gojira better and think they’re a better band with no gimmick.

Great Van Fleet does rock and they have a better sound than Ghost, yet not as unique.

Still, Gojira is so far superior to both.

I’m just starting to get into GHOST. I’m a practicing Christian, and was kind of put off by their schtick, but I have to admit the songs are really good. I guess that, if I can listen to SLAYER, I can listen to GHOST.
