According to the New York Post , KISS’ Gene Simmons is ditching California for Nevada.
The bassist, and his wife Shannon Tweed, recently paid $8.2 million on an 11,000-square-foot spread in the desert of Henderson, Nev., just outside Las Vegas, according to reports.
“We are moving out of LA for a number of reasons,” Simmons, 71, told The Post back in March, citing among other gripes, onerous taxes that make California “inhabitable.”
“I’m done [with California],” he said. “There are earthquakes, fires and pandemics every year. Even though there is nice sunshine, I’m done.”
Simmons had lived for many years on a two-acre estate in Beverly Hills. That home is on the market for $20 million. He currently lives in a 12,000-square-foot mansion in Lake Tahoe.
His new Vegas pad reportedly boasts six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a koi pond and sprawling views of the desert valley.

Right now Gene is singing “Say Goodbye To Hollywood!” 😉 Sorry, Dana, for the Billy Joel reference, but it fits! – I’ll pay the fine ~ LOL! 🙂
Turnstiles is an amazing Billy Joel album
Yes it is, Wiggy, 1 of my faves, right behind Glass Houses, and The Stranger
Gene finally shows sound decision making!
I guess Gene wants to be neighbors with Eddie Trunk.
11,000 sq. feet? Should be plenty of room for all Gene’s wigs….maybe….but nowhere near enough for his ego.
LOL!!!
Well, that’s funny and while true, perhaps there’s enough room at Paul’s place. lol
Maybe Gene is setting himself up for a KI$$ Vegas residency. There are so many tribute artists who perform in Vegas, seems like the current tribute version of KI$$ would fit right in….
Good one, bro, good one! Now you “Got Me Under Pressure” to top that one! 😉
People are fleeing cali and NY in droves I have friends in both states both of whom have either left, or are a month from closing on a new house and leaving , they have both told me their reasons and after hearing what they told me , I don’t blame Simmons for leaving ~
Robert,
I would LOVE to leave New York, and I say that as a life long New Yorker. Unfortunately, family obligations, and my fiancee’s job makes that very difficult. My mother and I always say we want to move to an Island. LOL!
D
Not so surprising they leave when they were in fact part of the reason for contributing to an ever inflated cost of living, especially when it comes to real estate out her in the West. NYC has always been ridiculous, while I understand the concept of basic supply vs. demand, it’s a self defeating in the short & long run for everyone. Oh! NO! ( no) Tears are falling for Gene.
dana, you can always go to staten ISLAND..(nice place to visit but i would never live there)
LOL!! I used to drive through SI every weekend, when my ex would pick me up in Brooklyn to bring me back to his home in Maplewood, NJ. But that is all is was, a drive through. However, it seems like out of all of the five boroughs, SI’s are the smartest.
The home in California is not a house; nor a mansion – it’s an absolute palace!
If only I could afford to do a deal with Mr and Mrs Simmonds; but hey I can dream….
I too am a native NYer and want to leave based on the government “leadership”
GRW,
I couldn’t agree with you more.
D 🙂
