FRONTMAN STEPHEN PEARCY ON HIS FORMER BAND RATT: “30 YEARS IS ENOUGH TIME TO BE IN SOMETHING THAT’S SO VOLATILE”

stephenpearcy400 Former Ratt singer Stephen Pearcy says he walked out on the band for the last time because he felt three decades of “volatile” living was enough.

He believes the notoriously unstable band changed for the worse when guitarist Robbin Crosby died in 2002 – but his offer of returning for a final album remains open.

Pearcy, who quit in April, tells Inappropriate Earl, “30 years is enough time to be in something that’s so volatile. Things weren’t proper.”

He reports he’s enjoying life more with his solo band, although he’s not planning to stage any large-scale tours. “There’s less drama and there’s less overall business structure,” he says. “It’s more back to basics. I just like getting out there once in a while.”

The singer describes Crosby’s death after a heroin overdose as “the end of the Ratt tale, so to speak,” adding, “I knew it would never be the same. No disrespect to whoever else stepped in. It’s just not the same – and hence all the catastrophe that followed.”

Speaking about the chance of recording a follow-up to 2010’s Infestation, Pearcy says, “If it’s the four original guys, that would be cool. If not, you’ll get what you got before. We’ll see.”

However, if it doesn’t happen, he reflects, “I’m happy with my legacy. We do very well for ourselves, so it’s all good. I can live with it and move on. The heyday is over with.”

Drummer Bobby Blotzer reacted to Pearcy’s departure earlier this year by accusing him of being “delusional” – but added he’d welcome “the nice Stephen” back into the fold.

    1. Greg et al,

Can we please try to omit all the personal attacks and name calling? Do grown men really have to resort to acting like teenage mean girls?

Thank you in advance of your future cooperation on this matter,
      Dana from ET.com 🙂

    2. Yeah Greg. Even though I think you obviously suffer from acute paranoia and insecurity, cause why else would you tag along on someone else’s lame insult which was already lame to begin with and thus show your even superior lameness – I’m not going to publicly state that you suffer from acute paranoia and insecurity. If you don’t understand the Richman, I apologize that we can’t sink down to your level of thinking and dummy things up a bit more for you. Perhaps you could head back to the kids’ table while the adults are talking. Thanks and take care.

  1. I AM THE CRAZY MAN
    WHO LIVES INSIDE YOUR HEAD
BUT I THINK I’M BREAKING THROUGH THE WALL
    YOU ARE THE INNOCENT
    CONVICTED OF THE CRIME
    NO ONE WAS EVER THERE
TO CATCH YOU WHEN YOU FALL
    I SEE THE DIAMONDS
BUT YOU ONLY SEE THE ROCK
    I NEED TO RUN
    BUT YOU ONLY CRAWL
    IT’S TIME TO OPEN UP
ALL THE DOORS THAT YOU KEEP LOCKED
    NOBODY GIVES WITHOUT A TAKE
    LET’S TAKE IT ALL

  2. This is why I don’t post here anymore. You guys all pile on each other like freaks and lunatics. RICHMAN is spot on for the first time ever aside from saying that Stephen is talented. I told him to stop with ALL HELL’S BREAKING LOOSE a year ago. RATT is the worst ever band in the history of rock music and that guy in the picture does look like a female junkie. Why defend Stephen? He has a bad reputation and JUVE is correct to say who is Stephen to call anyone FUGLY. RATT is dreadful, Stephen Pearcy is hideous and you dopes who defend him are pathetic. MILKMONEY speaks the truth and you all must listen.

  3. Juan, Bobby and Warren were the whole sound and soul of Ratt. Pearcy was and still is annoying sounding and has zero stage presence. Every single time I have seen Ratt in the 80’s, the opening act(s) wiped the floor with them, mainly due to Pearcy’s “I’m so cool I don’t need to put on a show” attitude and their just godawful live sound. I don’t know why, but they always sonically stunk in concert.
