FORMER GUNS N’ ROSES GUITARIST SLASH SAYS THE HE AND AXL ROSE HAVE REPAIRED THEIR ESTRANGED RELATIONSHIP
Blabbermouth.net reports that former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has confirmed that he has rekindled his friendship with the band’s lead singer Axl Rose — six years after the frontman called him “a cancer.”
Speaking to Aftonbladet TV in Sweden (see the video below), where Slash was making a special appearance on Friday (August 21st) for a launch event for the Marshall London phone, the guitarist said of his restored relationship with Axl. “It was probably way overdue, you know. But it’s…. you know, it’s very cool at this point. You know, let some of that, sort of, negative… dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long.”
Asked if his warmer relationship with Axl will lead to a reunion of Guns N’ Roses’ classic lineup, Slash said, “Oh, I couldn’t answer that one, though…” Pressed on why that is, Slash replied, “All right, let’s get off the subject, ’cause, you know, that’s an old one.”
Slash was asked about the possibility of a reunion of the classic Guns N’ Roses lineup on the May 7th edition of CBS This Morning and gave a somewhat surprising answer. He replied, “I’ve got to be careful what I say there. I mean, if everybody wanted to do it and do it for the right reasons, I think the fans would love it. I think it might be fun at some point to try and do that.”
Asked what the “right reasons” might be, Slash said, “I mean, that’s a hard one. That just starts to get into a whole complex thing… It’s really between the guys in the band.” But pressed on whether he thought it was likely, Slash said, “Never say never.”
The world needs Guns N’ Roses, the real one. The last big American rock band. Make it so.
The original band will get back together eventually, I’m sure of it. We all know Steven wants to do it. Getting Izzy on board might be more tricky but I hope they can make it happen. That would be THE show to see. We need something huge like that to happen. None of us, including the G N’ R guys, are getting any younger!
Forget Steven ( not that it’s right ), and would you take Gilby Clarke? Axl, Slash, Duff, Gilby and Matt Sorum?
I think the original APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION band reuniting, even for a few select shows, would be a bigger deal. But the USE YOUR ILLUSION era band was great. Matt was great during his time with the band. Mainly, the biggest event would be seeing Axl and Slash on stage together again.
I’ll bet that they won’t even give Adler an unsignable contract. Axl always mistreated Steven and I’ll bet terms of any reunion would be for the USE YOUR ILLUSION line-up.
Hopefully Izzy will be onboard if this happens but I have a feeling Adler won`t be the drummer. Dudes skillset has diminished considerably and is always battling his addictions which wouldnt get any better in the band. I`m definately ready for a reunion but I think Matt should be the guy behind the kit.
there is no suprise here,they are taking a page right out of rock star 101.great band ,has a bunch of hits,then hate each other break up,have a run of solo stuff,then money starts to wind down a bit,no one really is paying to much attention to them execpt there hard core fans,then a few years later,start the rumor mill going deny them for a year or 2,then put out there that your pals again,and you kissed and made up,but still deny the reunion rumors,get your fans and the media all wound up,tease them for awhile,and then BAM,big anouncment,rnr reunion,make millions again,tour for 3 years or so ,then go back to hating each other again,but in the mean time milk it for all you can….text book stuff,exp kiss,ozzy,black sabbath,van halen,motley crue,and on and on………
