ELEGANT WEAPONS, FEATURING JUDAS PRIEST MEMBERS RICHIE FAULKNER AND SCOTT TRAVIS, ALONG WITH PANTERA BASSIST REX BROWN WITH SINGER RONNIE ROMERO, RELEASE THEIR FIRST SINGLE VIDEO, “BLIND LEADING THE BLIND,” DEBUT ALBUM “HORNS FOR A HALO” DUE MAY 26TH

The animated music video for Blind Leading The Blind, the first single from Elegant Weapons, the new project featuring guitarist Richie Faulkner(Judas Priest) and singer Ronnie Romero (RainbowMSG), can be seen below. The song is from Elegant Weapons‘ debut album, Horns For A Halo, which will be released on May 26th through Nuclear Blast. The LP was recorded with bassist Rex Brown (PanteraDown) and drummer Scott Travis (Judas Priest) and was helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with Judas PriestAcceptExodus and Megadeth, among many others.

“The video is great and gives a quirky and stylistic representation of the meaning of the song,” explains Faulkner. “The main character is getting drunk on the power he is given by the people that trust him, only to be found out later when his followers really see the truth. When the power is taken away, he is seen for what he really is.”

Although I still think the name of this band is kind of silly (this what I wrote on the debut post about the group (Elegant Weapons? Is that the sister to the Killer Dwarf’s Dirty Weapons? 🙂 ), this isn’t half bad.

Dana my friend how the devil are you?

Sounds good. I’ve always said that Richie Faulkner is a good guitar player, I just don’t like him in Judas Priest; it just doesn’t sound the same without ‘Our Ken’.

I’ve heard the singer Ronnie Romero a few times before on various recordings; as well as working the live shows with Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow back in around 2017.

He actually reminds me of a Swiss vocalist named Steve Lee. He was the lead singer in a very successful Swiss band named Gotthard. Steve was sadly killed whilst on a bike riding tour of the US back in 2011 (on Route 66 if I remember correctly.)

Ronnie has also done some work with Gotthard’s guitarist Leo Leoni. Leo put together a side band called CoreLeoni where he re-recorded some of Gotthard’s songs. Below is a link to a song called Higher, which was on Gotthard’s album DialHard from around ’94. The first one is the original with Steve Lee, the second is the re-record by CoreLeoni with Ronnie Romero.

Gotthard still performs today with singer Nic Maeder. Here’s a link to the first song they released with him back in 2013 – 14.

      Hello my English counterpart,

I think I told you my great grandma was from East London? She had a bit of a Scouse accent (kind of sounded like a British parrot, “‘Ello…”).

I could not open the first link of Higher, but I was able to open the second one. I am not sure I like the super high, Klaus Mein-esque vocals however, the music is kind of kick of ass. But, does it sound like something else? Maybe a cross between Guns N’ Roses and Fastway? Not sure??

As for Starlight, I definitely like the vocals better on that one.

      Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks Dana ! Had to laugh. I remember that post. Still play that Dirty weapons CD.

A Scouse accent? From East London, are you sure??? :()

If she came from Liverpool… for sure. The link to the Gotthard original song Higher works on the main page of this website – I’ve just tried it.

Steve Lee’s voice had many different colours to it. He could go from full on rockers to soft Ballards without any problem.

Here’s another one of Gotthard’s song’s from an album that was called (dare I say it / write it?)….. G-Spot.

This is called Sister Moon (I have this album in my collection). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=749PCP_nfME

    Hope you enjoy!!

(If you want to hear his voice in Ballard mode, check out “One Life, One Soul”.)

Oh please excuse me, I am not familiar with what accent goes with what region of England. I think I meant a cockney accent?

Thank you for passing this along, I will listen when I get the chance.
