DEF LEPPARD RELEASE VIDEO FOR “MAN ENOUGH”

Def Leppard have released a video for the song Man Enough from their latest self titled album.

Guitarist Phil Collen told TeamRock, “I had this bass riff floating around my head, and I wanted it to have a similar vibe to Billy Jean by Michael Jackson — almost a disco vibe. I didn’t know what it was going to be called, then I played it to [singer] Joe [Elliott] we went to [drummer] Rick Allen’s 50th birthday, and he said, ‘Shit! I’ve got a great idea for this song! And it’s called Are You Man Enough To Be My Girl. People have said it reminds them of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. It has this dancey appeal. Our song All Night was a bit like that, and Excitable on Hysteria. But I think this is the first time we’ve really made it work. It just fell into place, and I think that’s because we didn’t restrict ourselves. Every song on the album’s like that. It was, like, ‘F–k everybody. This album was done for us.’ It wasn’t a business venture. We really didn’t care what anybody thought. We went to town on it; it was a lot of fun.”

Not a bad song, not really memorable either.

Remember when the world shook when Def Leppard had a new single?

Now the kids wait for the new Drake song.

    Lord help us.

Are you one of those people who think the only 3 Def Leppard albums are High and Dry, On through the Night and Pyromania? They’ve been a pop/rock band since the mid 80’s and have said so themselves.

What happened was Mutt Lange steered them to the top and they parted ways. At least with Mutt Lange even their pop-oriented music was still fun to listen to. Without him they just make, at best, middle-of-the-road pop music.

Yes, it reminds me of Another One Bites The Dust, but this is a damn cool song regardless. It’s nice to hear that they aren’t stuck in 1986 and just recycling Bringing On The Heartbreak, Photograph, and Pour Some Sugar On Me endlessly.

I actually think the CD is pretty good.
Yep it’s got the pop stuff. But has some good rockers on it as well.
