TOM KEIFER SET TO RELEASE LONG-AWAITED SOLO ALBUM SPRING 2013

bandBest known as the singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Philadelphia-based Blues-Rock band Cinderella, Tom Keifer is making his debut as a solo artist with the release of his long-awaited and highly anticipated solo album, The Way Life Goes, April 30th through Merovee Records (through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group).

The collection of 14 new songs ranges from intimate, organic, acoustic tracks to driving hard rock. It embraces the blues, rock and country roots that have always been present in his unique sound that has generated the sale of over 15 million records worldwide for Cinderella. Rolling Stone praised Keifer as “a gritty, bluesy (rocker) with enough genuine swagger to draw comparisons to Mick Jagger.” The Flower Song, the album’s first single, will be serviced to AAA radio stations nationwide on February 4th, while Solid Ground will be serviced to all Rock formats on March 11th.

The Way Life Goes is a raw, introspective look at the roller coaster ride that has been Keifer’s life for the past 15 years. From being told that he would never sing again as a result of a partially paralyzed left vocal cord, to the emotional and personal battles that followed, his solo debut is a story of perseverance, a testament to the power of passion and will, when combined with a true love of music.

In touring news, Keifer will launch his first-ever solo tour on February 9th in Winston-Salem, NC at Ziggy’s. The 14-city trek of small, intimate rooms is an up-close and personal preview of songs from The Way Life Goes along with some Cinderella classics. Dates beyond February 28th are currently in the works. Tom Keifer recently spoke with HuffingtonPost.com about The Way Life Goes. “The idea for a solo record started in the nineties when the band parted ways and we left Universal,” he said. “There was just a changing of the guard in the industry at that time and I started thinking about a solo record. I wrote for it for many years and the songs just kept going on the pile and I never got around to actually making a record…We started cutting tracks for this record in 2003 and I went to the pile of songs that had been building up and picked some that I liked and I’ve just been working on it ever since. It was produced independently of a label, because the idea from the beginning was to just work and record until I was happy with it. I wrote with a lot of different people–my wife, Savannah, who’s a great writer, co-wrote a lot of the songs on the record and also co-produced the record with me, and a good friend of ours, Chuck Turner who’s a great engineer and producer. So from the beginning, the attitude was, ‘Let’s have fun and just make a great record and it’ll be done when it’s done.’ Little did we know it’d be nine years later…it’s done and we went through some crazy stuff and mixed and remixed and reworked things over and over and probably made a lot of mistakes along the way, but finally got it where we were all happy with it, so here it is.” The Way Life Goestrack listing:

ANTHRAX RELEASE A STATEMENT ABOUT ROB CAGGIANO’S DEPARTURE FROM THE BAND

robcaggiano400

Anthrax have released the following statement about the departure of guitarist Rob Caggiano:

“Rob has been an integral part of Anthrax for so many years, as our lead guitarist, in a production capacity, but most of all, as our close friend. His contributions to the band have been enormous. While we are sad that he is leaving, we wish him nothing but great success going forward, and hope to share the stage with him again sometime down the road.

With the Metal Alliance Tour on the horizon, we have been considering several lead guitarist options, and will be making an announcement on that shortly.”

SAXON PREPARE TO DELIVER THEIR LATEST ALBUM SACRIFICE ON FEBRUARY 26TH

saxon2011

With a storming new stomp in their boots and a renewed, lithe swagger to their legendary sound, Saxon will release Sacrifice, on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 through UDR. Taking a sharper, re-invigorated approach to the production, on this, their 20th album, Saxon have produced 10 of their strongest, heaviest and most inspired songs for many-a-year, and a more than worthy successor to their last album A Call To Arms.

“Less tricks, more power!” roars frontman and founding father Biff Byford, “my brief to the band was to be raw, be real and not be afraid to look back at the old classic material for inspiration.”

The album was recorded at LS Studios in Yorkshire and was produced by Byford with Andy Sneap mixing and engineering by Jacky Lehmann. It fairly bristles with muscular metallic intent, Paul Quinn’s and Doug Scarratt’s guitar work the best it’s ever been, while Biff’s vocals sound fresher and livelier. The songwriting too harks back to a classic era in Saxon’s history, with the likes of Warriors Of The Road, Wheels Of Terror and Stand Up And Fight evoking the halcyon days of yore with a contemporary twist, the classic Saxon sound absorbing the snarl, ferocity and attitude of contemporary bands (and fans) such as Megadeth, as evidenced by the crunching title cut Sacrifice.

“It’s certainly been done from a more early ‘80s thrashier perspective,” explains Biff, “and it’s not just guitars bashing away willy-nilly, they’ve got a fresh drive, purpose and perspective.”

Besides the new material, Saxon will also be adding some unique recordings of revisited classic to certain formats of the release, also produced by Byford and mastered by Andy Sneap, including an orchestrated version of Crusader and an acoustic version of Frozen Rainbow.

“From the songs to the production, I wanted to focus on the raw aspects which made us great in the first place,” concludes Biff, “And living in that rawness, combined with some great classic Saxon-songwriting, has in my opinion made Saxon fresher than ever.”

2. Sacrifice

3. Made In Belfast

1. Crusader (Orchestrated version)
2. Just Let Me Rock (Re-recorded version)

3. Requiem (Acoustic version)

4. Frozen Rainbow (Acoustic version)

05. Forever Free (Re-recorded version)
