“BETTER DAYS COMIN'” FOR WINGER IN APRIL

Winger 630-2014 One of the most misunderstood hard rock bands to come out of the 80’s is returning with their first new album in 5 years. Winger is releasing Better Days Comin’ in North America on April 22nd through Frontiers Records.

The notorious band comprised of members Kip Winger on vocals/bass, Reb Beach on guitar, John Roth on guitar and Rod Morgenstein on drums, are back with their latest album. The album is available for pre-order on Amazon.com in a standard and deluxe configuration. The deluxe edition comes in a glossy digipak and includes the bonus track Another Beautiful Day and a DVD including a “Making of the Album” documentary as well as videos for the first single Rat Race and title track Better Days Comin’. An iTunes pre-order will be available soon. The band has always been known for their incredible musicianship and the trend continues on Better Days Comin’.

“On Better Days Comin’ we drew from our past to elaborate on our future. The band is stronger than ever and very excited about the music on this record,” explains front man Kip Winger. “We feel this album exemplifies the true sound of the band in every way.”

From the opening riff of album opener Midnight Driver of a Love Machine to the final outro lick of Out Of This World, it is clear Winger is back and better than ever. Hard rocking songs like Queen Babylon, progressive rock movements like Tin Soldier, and touching ballads like Ever Wonder show the band’s diversity while always centering on great songs. The debut single from Better Days Comin’ is the adrenaline fueled rocker Rat Race that showcases some of the band’s best work of their 25 year career.

Better Days Comin’ track listing is:

1) Midnight Driver of a Love Machine
2) Queen Babylon
3) Rat Race
4) Better Days Comin’
5) Tin Soldier
6) Ever Wonder
7) So Long China
8) Storm In Me
9) Be Who You Are, Now
10) Another Beautiful Day (Deluxe Edition Bonus Track)
11) Out Of This World

Winger formed in the late 1980’s and soared to immediate success with their 1988 self-titled release. The album spawned the hit singles Seventeen and Headed For A Heartbreak and achieved platinum sales status. Winger also stayed on the Billboard Top 200 chart for over 60 weeks where it peaked at number 21. Their next album, In The Heart Of The Young, also achieved platinum status behind the singles Can’t Get Enuff and Miles Away. The change in musical climate of the mid-90’s, compounded with unprovoked ridicule on MTV’s popular Beavis and Butthead, led the band to go on hiatus in 1994. In 2001, the band reunited and have not looked back since. Winger has made a name for themselves with relentless touring, while winning back fans and critics alike because of their exceptional musicianship, Kip Winger’s powerful vocals and the band’s incredible songwriting.

ERNIE BALL LAUNCHES BRAND NEW ONLINE SERIES “REAL TO REEL WITH SLASH”

Slashtophat400 Ernie Ball, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of guitar strings and musical instrument accessories, is proud to launch a new digital series with the Grammy-winning, iconic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Slash and his band Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. The innovative online series, titled Real to Reel with Slash, documents the entire in-studio recording process of the iconic artist’s forthcoming third solo album, along with world-renowned music collaborators Myles Kennedy, Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz, returning to the studio for a third time.

From the first day of recording to the last, the multi-segment fly-on-the wall series will follow Slash and The Conspirators from pre-production at NRG Studios in Los Angeles to Studio Barbarossa in Florida, as they write, play, create and record the new album from start to finish. A new episode clip will be featured on the site for fans every week starting February 25th.

Each clip will showcase a behind-the-scenes sneak peek inside the recording sessions, giving fans unprecedented exclusive access to some of the world’s most legendary musicians. The segments will give viewers up-to-date, virtually real-time progress on the recording journey each week, along with commentary from the band members, gear talk, and more.

“We’re incredibly excited to give music fans an inside look into the recording process of one of the most anticipated Rock albums of the year!” said Brian Ball, Vice President of Ernie Ball Inc.

Both Slash and Kennedy emphasize that creatively, it is was crucial for them to bring the recording process back to basics, keeping it simple by capturing the essence of a classic rock band utilizing the often forgotten art form of recording to two-inch analog tape.

“I love the process of recording live in the studio and the sound of a rock n roll band recorded on 2″ tape as opposed to digital,” explains Slash. “I thought it would be cool to show some footage of us doing exactly that.”

Slash landed on the top of the charts with his first true solo album, Slash (2010) which featured guests Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and more. In 2012, Slash and his band featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators released the critically acclaimed album Apocalyptic Love–which earned Slash his two first-ever #1 rock radio hits: You’re A Lie and Standing In The Sun—that stormed onto the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4,marking the top rock debut for that week. Slash and his band are currently in the studio with producer Elvis Baskette working on a new album to be released in the fall of 2014.

Fans can tune in to the first episode of Real to Reel with Slash, Presented by Ernie Ball on February 25th, 6:30am PST at slashonline.com.

VINCE NEIL, ALICE COOPER, SAMMY HAGAR, SLASH & OTHERS WILL BE APPEARING AT THE KERRY SIMON BENEFIT IN LAS VEGAS THIS THURSDAY

vinceneil400pix Vince will be performing at Kerry Simon’s Fight MSA benefit this Thursday, February 27th, at 6pm. Performances also include Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Slash & Todd Rundgren all backed by house band Sin City Sinners. The event will be hosted by Bill Murray.

As you may have heard, our friend Kerry Simon has been diagnosed with a rare disease closely related to Parkinson’s, but far more aggressive, known as multiple system atrophy (MSA). Ultimately fatal, MSA is an incurable, progressive, and degenerative neurological disease. Very little is known about MSA, and very few resources are available to those it affects. There is currently no known treatment to slow or stop this aggressive disease. Kerry is committed to changing this and is partnering with Keep Memory Alive, the charitable arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, to raise both awareness about this disease, but also create a network for those affected and their families.

The inaugural event to help raise awareness will be an event combining Kerry’s two great loves, food and rock and roll, here in Las Vegas. The rock and roll cocktail party will feature some of Kerry’s favorite chefs and musicians. The event will be a multi celebrity chef ticketed stationed dinner, all-star concert and auction on Thursday, February 27th at the Lou Ruvo Center. In addition to the amazing line up of chefs and musicians, we will be holding an auction of some very unique and incredible items ranging from designer fashion to once in a lifetime dining experiences to rare rock and roll photography.

Our goal with these fundraising events is to:
1. Create awareness for MSA
2. Improve understanding of MSA through clinical care and research
3. Develop a clinical home at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health for MSA patients, as well as their families and caregivers.

In March, Kerry will head to the Mayo Clinic to undergo an experimental eight week stem cell program. We hope that you can join us to send him off in proper style, and to join Kerry in the cause of raising awareness and support for this difficult disease.

Tickets are available for this event at keepmemoryalive.org.

ROMAN FERNANDEZ, BILL AUCOIN’S FORMER PARTNER, RELEASES A STATEMENT ABOUT KISS BEING INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK N’ ROLL HALL OF FAME

kiss-return Bill Aucoin’s former partner, Roman Fernandez, has released the following statement regarding KISS and the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony:

“I’m going on record.

I normally stand by the sidelines quietly watching the scrimmage in silence, but now, I feel I have to speak up.

My late partner, Bill Aucoin, bothered enough in 1973 to wager his entire career as a successful television producer and bet all the money he had, as well as money he didn’t have, on 4 kids from the streets of New York. He unfortunately can no longer speak for himself on the subject of KISS and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bill Aucoin gave KISS their start, as well as some of the best years of his life. KISS would, in fact, despite all his other successes, come to define Bill in the eyes of millions of fans and in the eyes of the industry. An industry that to a great degree didn’t give KISS the time of day when it mattered the most. No one did except for Bill, Sean Delaney and Neil (and Joyce) Bogart. All no longer with us except for Joyce. But, Bill and I spoke about this subject on several occasions before he passed. Bill Aucoin was not the type to reflect in regret, and he harbored no animosity. But he was convinced that due to politics within the board of the Hall of Fame, the day would never come that saw KISS inducted. I’m pretty certain he was OK with that.

But had Bill been alive to see the day it was announced that the group would indeed, despite every notion to the contrary, be inducted, might have been a nice parting gift for him. But it’s done. He’s gone. It could have just as easily been Paul, Gene, Peter or Ace. But they’re still here. And I’m pretty sure this is what Bill might have said in light of all this nonsense: ‘(….unintelligible noises) Look it, find a compromise, put everything aside for one night, be the larger than life rock stars you know you are, and then…. Onward and upward!’

I don’t believe Bill would begrudge any reasoning for the band members feeling however they may about one another. But, I also believe he would have recognized this as one singular night to put unresolved issues aside. Bill is no longer with us. If Paul, Gene, Peter or Ace were not here, this conversation would not even be possible. Life is too short to waste such a precious opportunity. If for no other reason, do it for Bill Aucoin. And for Sean. And for Neil. Love to all members of Kiss past and present. Onward and Upward guys.”
