8/4: BACK FROM BOSTON, AN UPDATE.

Just back from a great weekend in Boston. Started out Friday hosting the Winery Dogs show at The Wilbur. Was great to see the guys one last time since now their tour is complete. The plan is for them to start writing album number 2 toward the end of the year and begin again in 2015. They already did one new song live called “Oblivion”. Between then Kotzen will release and tour for a solo anthology and album, Portnoy will do some Flying Colors dates, and Billy will do an album and brief tour with Mr Big.  Also spent some time Friday at my Boston affiliate WAAF where my show is heard Friday nights at 11P. Great to be back on that station!

Saturday I performed at The Wilbur with Don and Jim and had a blast. Thanks to all who came out and special thanks to Gary Cherone of Extreme who joined us on stage for a few. Great time!

Next up for me; Montana! I’ll be headed there for the first time this Thursday to host a festival called Rockin The Rivers (and celebrate my 50th birthday on Friday!).

ALL NEW podcast with Brian May goes up this Thursday! Ran some teaser audio in my FM show this past weekend. Thanks to all for the kind words about the podcast! Subscribe now for free on Itunes or listen on www.podcastone.com

Live tonight 6-10P ET on SiriusXM channel 39 TRUNKNation.

KISS’ GENE SIMMONS HAS LITTLE SYMPATHY FOR DRUG ADDICTS AND DEPRESSION, SAYS “F-YOU, KILL YOURSELF”

Gene-Simmons400 Annie Reuter of Radio.com reports:

Gene Simmons of KISS has some heated words for drug addicts and people dealing with depression in a new interview with Songfacts.com.

When asked if he keeps in touch with the original players of KISS he answered with a resounding “no.”

Why’s that? Simple: they’re either drug addicts or just downers.

“I don’t get along with anybody who’s a drug addict and has a dark cloud over their head and sees themselves as a victim,” Simmons said. “Drug addicts and alcoholics are always: ‘The world is a harsh place.’ My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. I don’t want to hear f–k all about ‘the world as a harsh place.’ She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life.

And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, ‘I’m depressed, I live in Seattle.’ F–k you, then kill yourself.”

He added “I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I’m the guy who says ‘Jump!’ when there’s a guy on top of a building who says, ‘That’s it, I can’t take it anymore, I’m going to jump.’ Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the f–k up, have some dignity and jump! You’ve got the crowd.”

While Simmons said KISS has new songs ready, there are no plans to record anytime soon. But, there is one artist he’d love to record with in the future: Lady Gaga.

“I think Lady Gaga is the only new rock star, although she’s not a rocker,” he said. “I would like her to throw away all the disco stuff and get a band. Don’t use tapes, come out with a real live band and guitars. She’s a bona fide musical artist. She did a duet with Tony Bennett, real great pipes. She can sit at a piano all by herself. She’s a legitimate artist. A lot of the other pop divas who are really talented are not artists.”

Simmons said KISS and Gaga tried to collaborate on their last record but both were too busy.

“We got close. She got busy, we got busy. We would have done it.”

EXODUS TO RELEASE THEIR NEW ALBUM “BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT” ON OCTOBER 14TH

exodus2014lineup638 Legendary thrash metal band Exodus have revealed the never-before-seen album art for their upcoming album, Blood In, Blood Out, hitting retail and digital stores on October 14th through Nuclear Blast. The album art was illustrated by Swedish artist Par Olofsson, known worldwide for his incredible renderings that have graced the covers of countless heavy metal albums, including EXODUS’ Let There Be Blood.

The concept for the art was impressively envisaged by Olofsson based on the album title alone, as Gary Holt explains, “The concept came from Par Olofsson – I fed him the title and he immediately came up with the final concept, and it’s perfect! One of my favorite covers we’ve ever done and it fits the title and theme to a T!”

Blood In, Blood Out is Exodus’ 10th studio album, and marks the band’s first release with new vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza since 2004’s Tempo of the Damned. It was also just announced via Rolling Stone that Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett churned out a special guest solo for one of the tracks on the album. More details are set to be released soon, including release dates, track listing information, pre-order specifics, and more.

To celebrate the imminent release of Blood In, Blood Out, Exodus will be busy touring this fall – with a full South American tour leading into a supporting run with fellow metal titans Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies on the Scion-sponsored fall leg of their United States onslaught. The tour begins on November 12th in Oakland, CA at The Fox Theater and will tour throughout the states, coming to close in Detroit, MI at The Fillmore on December 5th. Tickets are on sale now!

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response, Exodus is making VIP experience packages available for the entire tour. The packages are on sale now! Fans are encouraged to get them as soon as possible, as VIP package sales will close seven days prior to each show day. *To purchase VIP packages via SLOtix.com click here.
