a big reason is you cant just get in your car and go grab a cd anywhere anymore..you have to order online and wait on snail mail to get it to you..I used to watch the clock on a new release tuesday and couldnt wait for the cd store to open to go get my new music and play it in the car on the way home..yes, you can download it now, but im old school and enjoy putting the cd on, and then reading the notes and lyrics that are in the cd cases. Its just not the same anymore..Very Sad
I remember driving to the Orange Blossom Mall in Fort Pierce Florida to buy Quiet Riot’s 1984 vinyl LP upon the day of release. The mall is gone, the record store chain is gone and the band is basically gone and the vinyl format is for the most part dead. Not fun anymore just hitting a computer getting things. Downloading blows.
Sad when Best Buy is one of the only ones to sell CD’s and that’s just two rows worth of racks. Amazon will be the last one to sell CD’s and I guess EM in my area.
Yeah very SAD when Best Buy is the lone ranger selling cd’s. Walmart does as well here.
So sad when you can’t go somewhere and just talk to someone about a new release before you buy it.
IPODS can’t be beat for travel convenience but I still want the physical disc with linear notes & artwork. You can’t get that downloading.
Where have all the good times gone?
There was nothing better when you could p/u an album, cassette, or CD – slap on the headphones, read the liner notes and just escape into the music for a few hours. Miss those days terribly. There was not a better feeling than buying an album and not knowing what you were going to get, and then the thrill of hearing some music that you just loved immediately and you knew it would be a staple in your musical diet for years to come. Nothing better than falling in love with a band as you were listening to them for the first time. It’s almost impossible to make those types of musical connections now. People now love singles, and not full length albums. I’m sounding old. I need to start a ‘if I were stranded on a desert island, what 10 albums would I take with me’ list.
