1/12: TMS S13 IS HERE, RADIO UPDATE, LIVE SHOWS, PALLADIA, ZAKK, MORE.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Spent most of it watching football and celebrating my daughter’s 10th birthday (Happy Birthday Elizabeth!). What a Championship Sunday we have next week. Can’t ask for more than the 2 top teams in each conference. Can’t wait! Weird to think the Super Bowl is taking place about 20 miles from where I live. This area soon to become pretty nuts I suspect.

My schedule is also about to become really nuts in a good way as That Metal Show season 13 is here! Have a full day of run throughs tomorrow in NYC and will see the latest set for the first time. It has been four years since we did TMS in NYC so it should be different for sure. Honestly I don’t care where we do it as long as we do it! All 12 new shows we will shoot over the course of the next 12 weeks are almost fully booked in advance. Pretty amazing and thanks to all the artists who have shown so much interest in wanting to be a part of our show. Incredible how it has grown in the US and around the world and thanks to YOU for that! The complete list of guests confirmed will be released Tuesday by VH1 and of course here in the space as well. Many first time guests and some returning favorites, plus a very diverse roster from rock, hard rock, metal, new and classic. First episode tapes this Tuesday, you will see it this Saturday 11P ET on VH1 Classic. Please note despite Palladia running some TMS in HD this weekend, the show and the new episodes will only be on VH1C. This is a network decision. TMS has become the flagship show for VH1C and they want the audience coming to that channel to see the new shows. It blows it’s not yet an HD channel. Nothing I can do about that. We will see what the future holds. But VH1C is the home for the new shows and all replays during the week. I’ll let you know when Palladia does another special with us again. Zakk Wylde, M Shadows, Jason Hook our guests in show 1 debuting this Saturday!

Keep an eye on the home page for listings of the many shows always being added. In the “Live Appearances & Signings” section, those are shows I will be at for sure and all also include book signing/selling for both books. PLEASE NOTE, live shows with me, Don and Jim, or the solo show I am doing in Houston 2/8, are NOT TMS tapings! If they are advertised as such it is wrong. They are live stand up shows only. Some will also feature live bands after we do our thing. If these are being misrepresented it is not by us. So please know that if coming out. Hope to see you and it is a great time, but they are not TV tapings.

Zakk Wylde in studio live with me tomorrow at 6P ET for a live TRUNKNation show. See you 6-10P ET on SiriusXM channel 39 for music and talk that rocks. Follow on Twitter for many more updates from the set @EddieTrunk

1/9: TMS LATEST, RADIO UPDATE, WINGER IN MILWAUKEE, TMS IN HD, MORE!

As I write this I’m listening to Black Sabbath Live at Hammersmith Odeon on Mob Rules tour. Damn I miss RJD. Just stunning stuff!

Anyway lot’s of stuff happening. Been going full force on the new season of TMS. Visiting our new NYC studio this Monday for a bunch of run through, then we tape the first new show in almost 6 months Tuesday that you will see 1/18 on VH1 Classic 11P ET. All 12 new shows we are about to do are almost totally booked. Last night we secured a great guest from a major act that has never been on before and is not heard from much. We will likely be announcing guests week to week so more on this soon. I was worried being in NYC about bookings since so many artists live in LA, but thankfully TMS has become big enough that people are willing to come to us now. This is huge because doing the show at home saves money that allows more new shows. As an example our past seasons were 8, this one is 12. All good stuff and we have many first time guests, returning favorites, and as usual a diverse mix of new and classic rock and metal. Keep an eye on Twitter for reports from the studio and photos @EddieTrunk

Zakk Wydle and M Shadows are the guests in the first show of TMS. Zakk will also be in studio with me at SiriusXM live this Monday 6-10P ET for TRUNKNation.

This Friday on the Q104.3 show I will be live 11P-2A. Frank Bello will be in studio to discuss and play music from his new side band with David Ellefson. You can hear this show free streaming live at www.q1043.com or use the free iHeartradio app. The streaming issues have been resolved from the previous few weeks!

Many live appearances coming up. Be sure to watch the home page listings. Just confirmed I am hosting two dates with Winger Jan 30 & 31 at Northern Lights Theater in the Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee. In addition to hosting I’ll also be selling and signing my books pre show in the casino lobby. Winger on at 8, I’ll be there around 6:30 before the show at a table outside the theater. I hosted Winger in Vegas not long ago and they were great! Amazing players and everything was played live and real, unlike so many bands out there today. Different sets each night too. Will be fun for sure.

Don’t forget live gigs coming for me, Jim and Don 1/18 Mexicali Live in Teaneck NJ and now Starland Ballroom 2/15 in Sayreville NJ. These are NOT tapings of TMS. They are live stand up comedy shows that I host and also do some stories at. Then we all have fun doing trivia and Q&A at the end. Mexicali will follow that with live music. I will be doing this solo 2/8 at Concert Pub North in Houston too. Books signed and sold at all events. Look forward to Houston where I hear from so many great fans! More to come!

Don’t forget TMS weekend on Palladia in HD starts Saturday 9AM ET. Schedule of TMS episodes airing in HD in last post. VH1 Classic is not an HD channel but the shows are shot that way. This is the only way to see episodes in HD so set those DVRs!

1/6: BACK LIVE ON SIRIUSXM TONIGHT, NEW LIVE DATES, TMS.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the football. Today really feels like the start of 2014 as everyone seems to be back in action. After a couple weeks pre recorded for the holidays I am back live tonight on SiriusXM channel 39 TRUNKNation (Hair Nation) for the first Eddie Trunk Live of 2014. As usual the show will air live 6-10P ET/3-7 Pacific. Tons of stuff to cover and discuss so this first show back will feature plenty of open phones. Call in during the hours I have toll free US and Canada at 866-315-2663. Look forward to catching up with you all tonight for live interactive nationwide radio, Music & Talk That Rocks!

Just added a new date for a live show with Don & Jim. 2/15 at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ. This show will be similar to others we have done together and feature stand up comedy, Q&A and more all with a metal angle. We have a blast doing these live gigs and also have one in Teaneck NJ at Mexicali live 1/18. And don’t forget I have a solo show 2/8 in Houston Texas at Concert Pub North as well. All live shows will also include a book signing at the end. Dates on the home page. Hope to add more solo and with Don & Jim soon.

The first new episode of TMS shoots a week from tomorrow. Going full steam ahead now toward our new season! I will announce more guests as they are confirmed for each week. Many have asked about the promo VH1C was running that mentioned guests. Yes many of those will be in the season and many more as well. But as usual things can change as well. More when I can share but out kickoff will be great with M Shadows, Zakk and Jason Hook! Be sure to follow @EddieTrunk on Twitter for all up to the second info and more!

1/5: M SHADOWS, ZAKK WYLDE, JASON HOOK GUESTS IN NEW TMS DEBUT 1/18!

The 1st episode of the new season of That Metal Show premieres 1/18 11P ET on VH1 Classic. It will be shot 1/14 in NYC. Guests will be M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Zakk Wylde and Jason Hook of 5FDP on guitar. We are taping a new show every week for 12 weeks. The entire 12 weeks are not booked. Will let you know week to week who the guests will be as things are confirmed and we get closer to each taping. As usual guests are booked based on who is available when we need them, who VH1C approves, and which artists want to do the show. Look forward to having Matt and Jason on for the 1st time and the always hysterical Zakk back with us. Should be a great kickoff from NYC and there will also be a new set once again. More details soon. Psyched be be back with TMS! Also next weekend VH1C and Palladia (in HD!) will air a TMS marathon to get warmed up for the new shows again starting 1/18!

1/4: PAUL STANLEY’S TWEETS, VERY DIFFERENT VIEWS ON KISS HOF CEREMONY.

As I have said consistently since the announcement that Kiss will be going into the HOF, now is when much of the discussion and negotiation on what goes down starts to happen. You have what Ace and Peter want, what Gene & Paul want, and what the HOF itself wants to happen, and somewhere it all needs to be worked out. With the holidays behind us expect info to come out as we get closer to the date and the various parties talk. There is already some very differing information coming out now as a matter of fact. If you listen to my interview with Ace (now on my home page for all to hear), it is clear he would like the original band to be featured since they are the members actually being inducted. Speaking of that, there has been much debate since the announcement on even this topic. The HOF makes that call and they decided the founding members only. That’s what I was told by several people who actually have votes. That could also be an issue on how this goes down and something being discussed internally. My view on it personally is if it isn’t just the original band, then it should be ALL the people that have been a part of it. But everyone has consistently told me, including voters, it is only the original four actually being inducted. That does not mean however that others from the bands history won’t be there and won’t even potentially be involved as was the case with Heart and others. Ace also stated in the interview with me the HOF wanted the band in makeup which he was open to. Both Peter and Ace said they spoke with Gene and Paul and vibes were good before the holidays. Ace expressed concern in my interview about how the current band would be represented vs him and Peter who are actually being honored. Ace’s concern is also likely fueled by a VH1 Rock Honors event in 2006 where he was in the strange position of not being allowed to play with Kiss, while Tommy did dressed as him. Ace played with the tribute band that night to Kiss.

Last night Paul Stanley’s twitter account showed a glimpse into the very different views about what will and won’t go down and the issues that still need to be worked through. You can check the feed for yourself @paulstanleylive When asked last night if the original band would play together at the HOF his response is “seems unlikely”. When asked if he thinks working with Ace & Peter would be better now that both are sober he responded “No”. When asked if he would wear makeup with Ace & Peter he responded “No way”.

This is clearly a shift in what fans thought and were hoping for and what Ace and Peter mentioned. It also points to the various egos, posturing and control issues that could turn something the fans have wanted for 15 years into a train wreck! Paul’s answers do not surprise me at all. For Gene and Paul this puts them in a tough spot having to reconnect with members they’d prefer not to deal with no doubt, and who they have spent the last 10 years trying to recreate in the current band. Quite frankly coming out with the original band once again in makeup opens up a huge can of worms with fans that they have been trying to keep a lid on for a decade. It does not work with what they are currently trying to sell so well. And make no mistake, like it or not, they know seeing the original four in makeup again would be HUGE for fans and put a dent in what they have been selling to fans; that it doesn’t matter so much who’s behind the makeup. So you can already see how some of this is playing out. Gene & Paul on one side trying to protect the current Kiss and not go down reunion road again, and Ace & Peter wanting to be sure their night being inducted pays tribute to them, and not other versions of the band not being inducted. Nobody wearing makeup would take away some of the confusion as to who is who, but as per Ace the HOF really wanted the band in costume.

I understand Gene & Paul wanting to protect their current business model. Trust me, they know and have seen first hand the avalanche a reunion, even for a few hours, with Ace & Peter will cause (MTV Unplugged). It would be nice to think for one night the fans could celebrate the original bands induction with all of them working together for a few hours. Then bring up everyone from KISStory at the end for a jam or something. But I suspect this has many twists and turns still to come and Paul’s tweets last night give just a little peak into how this could unfortunately get very messy. If you are planning on buying tickets to this to see a Kiss reunion even for a couple songs as many have told me, I would seriously hold off. Looks like much still to be decided and as per Paul’s verified Twitter account it doesn’t sound promising at the moment. Listen to the interview with Ace I did a couple weeks ago, then read Paul’s tweets last night. This isn’t me stirring the pot or with any inside information. Just doesn’t take a genius to see there are some very different opinions as to how this should go down already. We shall see…I’m sure much more as we go.
