DEF LEPPARD DOCUMENTARY SERIES FILMED DURING THE BAND’S LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY

defleppardgroupblue400 Def Leppard will appear in a documentary series following their recent Las Vegas residency.

Joe Elliott and co are the subjects of Living With Def Leppard, which was shot while they performed their Viva Hysteria concerts at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in March and April.

Producers Bunim-Murray and AEG Network Live say: “The series follows the band – which has been together since 1977 and continues to perform to fans in sold-out arenas and stadiums worldwide – both on and off the stage throughout their stay in Las Vegas.

Viewers will witness the band’s camaraderie and spirit, which have kept them together for 35 years despite many challenges and temptations.”

The series will include performance footage along with scenes which will show a side of the band fans have never seen before.

It’s set to be the first in a series of similar shows. AEG president John Meglan says: “This is sure to set a precedent for a new genre of TV custom-made for the ultimate rock fans.”

DIO’S THIRD ALBUM IS “DIFFICULT” FOR FORMER BAND MEMBERS

vivcampbell'slastinlinelarge Dio offshoot band Last In Line will play most of the band’s material from the first two albums but not as much of the third release, Sacred Heart, because the material carries too many bad memories.

Guitarist Vivian Campbell, now with Def Leppard, last week told Classic Rock he aimed to reclaim his heritage by playing songs he co-wrote for the first time since being fired by Ronnie James Dio in 1986. But he’s not ready to extend that to the album he was touring at the time he was fired.

Campbell discusses the setlist with Talking Metal and says, “We haven’t completely finalized it yet, but it’s basically going to pick itself. There are only nine songs on Holy Diver and I think there’s only nine songs on the The Last In Line album.

The Sacred Heart album was very difficult for us all – that’s when things really started to go wrong with the band. No one wanted to be in the studio with Ronnie.

We would literally just come in and do our parts; we wouldn’t really hang, whereas with Holy Diver and Last In Line we were in the studio 24-7 and everyone was committed to making those records.

So the Sacred Heart record, we don’t look upon it as favorably. We probably won’t play too much from that.”

While Campbell and bandmates Vinnie Appice, Jimmy Bain and Claude Schnell used to perform some Black Sabbath and Rainbow tracks with Dio, the guitarist feels it wouldn’t be appropriate now they’re working with singer Andy Freeman.

“I don’t think it would be legitimate for us to do that,” says Campbell. “The original Dio band played Man On The Silver Mountain, Stargazer, Long Live Rock N’ Roll, Mob Rules, Heaven And Hell and Children Of The Sea. Those were legitimate enough for us to do because Ronnie was there and he’d been in those bands.

“But without Ronnie there, I don’t think it’s very legitimate to play Sabbath or Rainbow songs, so we won’t be doing that.”

ALTER BRIDGE TO RELEASE “FORTRESS,” THEIR NEW ALBUM, ON OCTOBER 8th

alterbridge It has been three years since Alter Bridge’s last studio album, ABIII, was released in the US, but it is clear their fans have been waiting for them to return. Now the rock juggernaut band comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals, Mark Tremonti on guitar, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums return with their fourth album, Fortress slated for release on October 8th through EMI Label Services. The latest record builds upon the sound that Alter Bridge has been known for with their uncompromised vocal melodies, untouchable dueling guitar work and pounding rhythm section. The album was produced by long-time Alter Bridge producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with Falling In Reverse, Story Of The Year and Incubus to name a few.

“When we started pre-production on this album, we pushed ourselves harder and further than we ever have previously in order to make the most out of every individual arrangement. We wanted this album to be our most unpredictable and exciting one yet. From the early feedback we have received, it looks like we have achieved what we set out to do,” exclaims Tremonti.

From the opening acoustic guitar work on Cry Of Achilles through the other 12 songs on Fortress, it is clear Alter Bridge are back to reclaim their place as one of hard rock’s marquee bands. The band showcases some of their heaviest material ever in tracks like Bleed It Dry and Farther Than The Sun, but also shows their signature softer side with songs like All Ends Well and the epic title track Fortress. Fortress is 13 tracks of unapologetic, searing hard rock that Alter Bridge has come to be synonymous with around the globe.

Alter Bridge recently announced their only US show in 2013 in Orlando, FL on October 4th at the House of Blues. Tickets for this show will go on-sale on Friday, July 26 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com. The band then heads over to Europe where they will begin an extensive headlining world tour that will run from October 16th through November 16 and will feature Shinedown and Halestorm joining the band on select dates. Alter Bridge will also make a triumphant return to Wembley Arena in London on October 18th, a venue they sold out on ABIII and documented with the CD/DVD, Alter Bridge Live At Wembley.

Alter Bridge burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of their gold-selling debut, One Day Remains. In 2007, the band released Blackbird, the album that elevated the band’s profile worldwide. The epic solo in the title track Blackbird was voted “Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time” by Guitarist Magazine. ABIII was released in 2010 and the single Isolation gave the band their first #1 single. Alter Bridge has appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live and their music has been used by the WWE, Major League Baseball and NASCAR to name a few. When Alter Bridge is on hiatus, singer Myles Kennedy can be found fronting Slash’s band, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. Guitarist Mark Tremonti recently released his fist solo project All I Was that found Wolfgang Van Halen playing bass with Mark on the road. Scott Phillips formed Projected with John Connolly and Vinnie Hornsby of Sevendust and released their debut in 2012.

JACK RUSSELL AND GREAT WHITE REACH AN AGREEMENT OVER THE USE OF “GREAT WHITE” NAME

jackRussell Great White and co-founding member/original lead singer Jack Russell have announced that they have entered into an agreement settling their pending litigation over the “Great White” name.

In March, 2012, Russell sued his former band-mates Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow over their continuing use of “Great White” after Russell had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. The band countersued, and the parties have been involved in contentious litigation for the last year. After three days of closed-door mediation before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carla Woehrle, the parties reached a comprehensive agreement. While many of the terms of the agreement will remain confidential, it can be revealed that, going forward, the current Great White band will continue to use the name “Great White”‘ and Russell will perform under the name “Jack Russell’s Great White.”

Jack Russell’s Great White has hit the high seas to embark in a two month two moth voyage across the Nation until early Fall.

Multi-Platinum original singer of Great White still brings it to the stage belting out all the original beloved songs that made the band take a place in rock history. Russell will be performing all their greatest hits from Save All Your Love, One Bitten Twice Shy, Rock Me and more.
