METALLICA’S ROBERT TRUJILLO NEEDS YOUR HELP TO MAKE A DOCUMENTARY THAT IS CLOSE TO HIS HEART

roberttrujillo400 Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo is working on a documentary about musician Jaco Pastorius and is trying to raise funds through a Pledge Music campaign.

Trujillo posts on the page:

“Hola everyone,

Thanks for checking out our project. Jaco has always been a hero of mine and one of the reasons I play bass to this day. This film has been a project of love and passion for me. This amazing film has been four years in the making, and we need your help to get this film across the finish line!

Our film tells the story of Jaco Pastorius, a self-taught, larger than life musician who made an undeniable impact on music, and reinvented the electric bass; giving the instrument a powerful dynamic voice that had both edge and beauty.

We have assembled an offering of exclusives with PledgeMusic that reflect the documentary and draw upon some of Jaco’s friends and admirers. Pledge and become part of the journey of making this film a reality.

– Rob”

Produced by Metallica’s Robert Trujillo in association with Passion Pictures, the film includes some incredible insights from an array of artists (Flea, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Carlos Santana) as well as Jaco’s family, and friends. It unveils the story of his music, his life, his demise, and ultimately the fragility of great artistic genius.

GLENN HUGHES ON WHY CALIFORNIA BREED BROKE UP, “THERE WAS NO WAY [OF] MOVING FORWARD WITHOUT ALL THREE ORIGINAL MEMBERS”

glennhughesjasonbonham400 Bassist/singer Glenn Hughes has posted the following message on his Facebook page explaining why California Breed is no longer a band:

“Good morning ..

On June 2nd Jason left California Breed. We had just gone on sale with tickets for the USA and Europe tours. I felt it necessary to commit to these shows, as we had recorded an album and we needed to play and promote our work.Joey C came in and played drums, and helped us out on tour, and I am supremely grateful for this.

What I couldn’t commit to was a second album. Cali Breed was Jason, Andrew and myself, and there was no way moving forward without all 3 original members.

Over the past 4 decades I have built a very loving and loyal fan base, where I know most of you, through touring, signing autographs for all, or on social networks, where I see your photographs or avatar, and answer you, in whatever you wish to ask or share with me. Those of you who have met me, or know me, know that I deeply care about LIFE…

I am currently working on 3 projects, 2 musical & one movie …I will give more details as I move forward.
This is a loving … And safe place. The Canvas of my LIFE is vast …and I go …where my spirit.. Leads me ..

Big love to all my fans, friends and GOLDEN ones across our Planet …

In my world LOVE is the answer .. Remember this.”

California Breed released their self-titled debut album on May 20th, 2014. The band released several videos for songs off the album including Sweet Tea, Midnight Oil and The Way.

In a November 2014 interview with Rocktologist, Hughes stated that he was not sure if the band was going to continue without drummer Jason Bonham.

RUSH ANNOUNCE R40 LIVE 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR, TICKETS ON SALE JANUARY 30TH

rush400pix Celebrating 40 years, Rush and Live Nation confirmed today that the R40 Live Tour will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer beginning May 8th in Tulsa, Okla. and finishing August 1st in Los Angeles, California. These not to be missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music. Tickets for the Rush: R40 Live Tour will go on sale starting January 30th in select markets at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com (complete itinerary follows).

Over the course of their amazing career, Rush has lived a lifetime together, providing an influential soundtrack to many of their fans’ lives. Some have been with them since the start, while others have discovered them along the way and delved into their incredible body of work. To quote Dave Grohl from their momentous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “Rush built their following the right way. No hype, no bullshit, they did it from the ground up. Their legacy is incredible and their influence undeniable.”

After 40 years together and 20 gold and platinum studio albums – Rush is ready to celebrate with the most loyal fans in the world by embarking on their 21st tour, one which will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude. Celebrate four decades of music with three incredible musicians – all in 1 night.

Rush’s vast catalog includes such classics as 1974’s self-titled debut, 1976’s 2112, 1981’s Moving Pictures, 1996’s Test For Echo, and 2002’s Vapor Trails. Rush released their 20th studio album, Clockwork Angels in 2012 via Anthem/Roadrunner Records. The critically acclaimed collection marked their first studio recording since 2007’s Snakes & Arrows, and debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 on the Billboard 200 matching the highest chart debut of the band’s career. Known for their energetic live shows, the most recent Rush release was the R40 collector’s boxset including live footage spanning all four decades of the trio’s career, including over two hours of unreleased material and a rare performance of the seven-part version of 2112 packaged in an impressive 52-page hardcover book.

Their longevity has served a pop culture renaissance, with the band’s rare television appearance – their first in over 30 years – on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, tributes on South Park and a memorable cameo in the film I Love You, Man. A live review from their most recent Clockwork Angels tour boasted “the power-trio interplay could put guys half their age in the burn ward,” while The Globe & Mail declared Rush as “one of the few bands anywhere that just keeps getting better.” A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.”

Rush has been recognized with eight Juno Awards, seven Grammy nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage that also won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The band members were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, made Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. They have received a star on both Canada’s Walk of Fame (1999) and Hollywood Walk of Fame (2010). In 2012, Rush were bestowed with the highest artistic honor in Canada when receiving the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award. To the elation of their fans, Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE GUITARIST TOM MORELLO AND SYSTEM OF DOWN SINGER SERJ TANKIAN PLAY TRIBUTE TO RANDY RHOADS BY COVERING “CRAZY TRAIN”

randyrhoads300 Kory Grow of Rolling Stone reports:

Guitarist Tom Morello and System of a Down singer Serj Tankian have joined forces to pay tribute to late Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads, who helped usher classicism into heavy metal before his accidental death in 1982, with a reverent cover of Crazy Train. The song will appear on an upcoming compilation, Immortal Randy Rhoads: The Ultimate Tribute, and the recording also features bassist Rudy Sarzo – who played with Rhoads in Ozzy’s band and Quiet Riot – and onetime Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice.

The tribute was especially important to Morello, “Randy Rhoads is my favorite guitar player of all time,” he tells Rolling Stone. “It was his poster on my wall when I was practicing eight hours a day, and I named my firstborn son, Rhoads, after him. Serj, Rudy, Vinny and I rocked ‘Crazy Train’ as a sonic tribute to one of rock’s greatest fallen heroes. Crank it.”

To listen to the song, and to learn more about this release, please go to Rolling Stone.

Immortal Randy Rhoads: The Ultimate Tribute will come out on March 3rd, through UDR Music.

PRESENTING ART OF ANARCHY FEATURING SCOTT WEILAND, BUMBLEFOOT, JOHN MOYER OF DISTURBED AND JON & VINCE VOTTA

weilandbumblefoot640 Presenting Art Of Anarchy, an album featuring Scott Weiland on vocals, John Moyer of Disturbed on bass, Jon & Vince Votta on guitar & drums, and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal as co-guitarist & producer. A video teaser can be viewed below.

Poised to become one of the biggest new bands of 2015, Art of Anarchy is redefining the rock supergroup. Meet the “mega group” – band members are rock legends in their own right with over 150 million in sales. Promising over-the-top songs that break rock music boundaries with an all-or-nothing attitude, star power and bring-down-the-house performances, this mega band promises to transform a new generation into rock enthusiasts and die-hard “Anarchists.”

Art Of Anarchy members are some of rock’s heaviest hitters and most versatile musicians. Iconic front man, Scott Weiland with his instantly identifiable voice needs no introduction. He is known as one of rock’s most adroit and ever-evolving vocalists. Lead guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal from Guns N’ Roses, bassist John Moyer of Disturbed and twin brothers Jon Votta on lead guitar and Vince Votta on drums promise extreme, uncompromising musicianship that rings in a new era for rock music.

The band started out of an 18-year friendship between Bumblefoot and the Votta brothers, dating back to the local New York music scene. Jon Votta approached Bumblefoot with the idea of putting together a unique new rock band that would have people talking. They knew Scott Weiland would be the ideal singer to handle the band’s musical diversity. Once Weiland was on-board, the band was completed by the aggressive, precise, melodic bass of career-rocker John Moyer.

Art of Anarchy has emerged as a band willing to eradicate musical borders in pursuit of something brilliant. For these legendary members, it’s all about songwriting and musicianship, which the band proudly displays on its self-titled debut album. The band also sees Weiland returning to his hard rock roots with a harder-edged sound than any of his previous efforts.

Bumblefoot shines not only as the band’s co-guitarist, but also as the producer and engineer on the album. His world-class guitar playing ranks him as one of rock’s most innovative guitarists.

John Moyer, self-proclaimed hitman from Texas, brings a punchy bottom end that rounds out the sound of AOA. His in the pocket style can be heard throughout the whole album.

Jon Votta, the grand architect behind Art of Anarchy, co-wrote the soon-to-be-released album and shares lead responsibilities with Bumblefoot. According to Votta, “This is the record I always dreamed of making since I started playing guitar”. Vince Votta came up with the band name based upon these principles: it had to be extreme, uncompromising, and make a bold statement- much like his drum playing.

2015 will be a big year for Art of Anarchy. Rock was never dead– just dormant– and Art of Anarchy is planning to wake it up. They’ll break all the rules and leave you wanting more Anarchy.
