ACE FREHLEY ANNOUNCES TOUR NORTH AMERICAN DATES

Ace Frehley will be back on the road in late February, when he starts a new round of tour dates that will keep him in front of crowds through mid-April.

Frehley’s latest tour comes in the midst of preparation for his next studio release, which will be a covers collection. “The album’s going to be about my influences,” he said last year. “I’m probably going to do a Rolling Stones song, a Who song, possibly a Led Zeppelin song, maybe a Beatles song. Stuff from bands that I grew up on and greatly influenced me. Those are the songs I’d redo, besides vintage Kiss stuff and a Frehley’s Comet track.”

While he puts the finishing touches on that album — which will also feature a guest appearance from Slash — Frehley’s also looking ahead to his next set of new originals, which, as he told the Aquarian, could be assembled using a few vintage parts. “I’ve … been going over a lot of old tapes that I found, that were in storage for about 25 or 30 years,” said Frehley. “I found old Kiss stuff, but I also found stuff that was pre-Kiss, so it’s exciting. … There’s definitely several song ideas that I might use in the next studio record of original music.”

Further information about Ace’s tour can be found at his official site, along with details regarding several VIP packages available for the shows — including one that includes a meet-and-greet, personal photo with Frehley and an autographed guitar (guitar not included).

  1. His version of 2000 Man was fantastic. Although Rocket Ride is one the most underappreciated songs in the KISS library. Interested in hearing his covers album.

    1. 2000 MAN is a gem. It really shows what Ace is capable of. The song 39 by QUEEN which deals in space travel and is sung by Brian May would be a perfect song for Ace to cover.

    2. Mine too Doug. 39 would be rather fantastic Richman. I’d really like to hear Ace do versions of KISS songs that he wrote or cowrote but didn’t sing back in the early days. I’d especially like to hear his version of Parasite.

    3. Damn DR, you must be reading my frigging mind! Besides “Parasite,” I’d really like to hear Ace do “Strange Ways,” and “Rock Bottom,” that’d be awesome! One more thing about “Rocket Ride,” besides guitar of course, Ace did a great job playing bass on it as well. Cheers bro! 🙂

    4. If he did Rock Bottom, he’d need to include the acoustic intro. That little piece of music is still one of my favorite instrumentals of all time. Strange Ways would also be good. Ever notice how good Hotter than Hell could’ve been with proper production? There are soooo many great songs on that LP.

    5. Absolutely! The remaster sounds better, but I guess even with today’s technology there’s still no way to erase all the mud.

    6. My favorite Kiss album is Hotter Than Hell too. It’s sucks that it’s kind of hard to crank it up in the car because of the production. But the songs are amazing.

    7. Agreed Randy. It was always my favorite of the first 3 and one of my fav’s overall. There’s not a bad song on that album. It’s incredible how they received little to no recognition at the time for that album. It’s one of the best rock albums of the early 1970’s and hardly received any love at all.

  2. Okay, I’m seeing AC/DC in Dallas on February 23rd, I’m seeing Iron Maiden in Tulsa on February 26th, so now I’m going to see Ace in Dallas on February 28th. I think it’s safe to say that is going to be a very fun and very loud stretch of days! And I’m with Doug on Ace doing the entire ’78 solo album. I’ll be sure to be yelling out song titles during Ace’s show!

    1. Oh, I definitely will! I’m taking my 20 year old niece and my 16 year old nephew to their first AC/DC concert and their first Iron Maiden concert. And my dumb brother can’t figure out why his kids like me more than him.

    2. LOL!!! You sound like a great uncle. I have no doubt that they will love AC/DC. After all, it’s hard not to love AC/DC.

      D 🙂

    3. Hey don’t spend your entire Christmas bonus on shows. In addition, if you call in sick the 24th, the 27th, and the 29th, your boss is going to subpeana all of us on this site and then fire you. You can’t be hung over in your line of work. How can you operate on brains humming RUN TO THE HILLS, ROCK SOLDIERS, and INJECT THE VENOM. For God sakes man. What’s wrong with you? On Sunday, I’m gonna visit my aunt in the Bronx. On Tuesday, I’m gonna have my prostate checked and then on Saturday I’m gonna watch an unfunny comedy show. You lead a charmed life my friend. Oh by the way, I have a friend John in Dallas, wish him my best. Texas is awesome.

    4. LOL! Thanks for the concern, but I have it covered: I’m taking vacation time from work that week. The kids will miss classes the 24th, but that’s not my fault or problem because one of them is grown and in college and can make her own decisions and the other is obviously just benefiting from having dumb parents.
