AC/DC’S BRIAN JOHNSON AND ANGUS YOUNG DISCUSS IF ROCK IS DEAD, YOUNG SAYS “IT’S BEEN A LONG, LONG, LONG FUNERAL”

Add AC/DC to the list of people who disagree with Gene Simmons‘ headline-making proclamation earlier this year that “rock is dead”.
In an exclusive interview with Ultimate Classic Rock (see video below), Angus Young and Brian Johnson declare the genre to be “alive and kicking.”
Young and Johnson were asked about Simmons’ statement. “With all respect to the lad,” Brian Johnson said. “I think he’s terribly wrong for a start. I really do. I don’t think anybody should have the nerve to stand there and just say that a certain genre of music has just ff—- disappeared overnight…Well, I’m here to tell you, Gene, you’re wrong. And I’m saying it’s alive and kicking. My name’s Brian. How do you do?”
Angus Young added his thoughts on the matter — “It’s been a long, long, long funeral” — before going on to give young bands the benefit of his four decades of experience. “If they think they’ve really got something,” he said. “They ought to stick with it…When people find their direction and…they finally kind of define what they are as a band, then they should hang on to that.
AC/DC’s new album, Rock or Bust will be released on December 2nd.

The music industry is what’s dead. It would be great if real music would get support like it did in the 70’s and 80’s, but those days are over…the controlled media & music industry have an agenda and it has nothing to do with music or entertainment.

Don’t you love to hear the Gene Simmons defenders go to bat for him no matter what. AC dc still one of the biggest bands to this day. What does Gene have to do with everything metal. I haven’t seen him promote any metal releases, he promoted himself and so called brand. So if you don’t agree with Simmons that must make the rest of us a bunch of assholes and we know nothing.
Gene only likes Metal when it’s in fashion to like Metal or when it’s beneficial for him to be associated with it. Whenever Heavy Metal was popular and making money suddenly Paul & Gene would start calling KISS a Metal band (look at interviews from the Creatures days) …whenever it wasn’t cool anymore suddenly Paul & Gene don’t want to be called Metal.
I have to agree with everybody Kiss sound terrible live and and their music sucks! I can’t believe the Morons on here think Kiss are relevant.
Well, I have never been a KISS fanatic…I do like some of their music but not all of it. I think it’s really too bad that the original four could not have stayed together, and everyone knows I have my own opinions about why that didn’t happen and who I place the blame with. And it’s not always popular with everyone here.
But to say KISS isn’t relevant and call people morons who think that they are? Sorry pal, you are way off base on both points, and you show your ignorance by making a comment like that.
