AC/DC’S NEW ALBUM “POWER UP” TOPS ALBUM CHARTS IN 18 COUNTRIES

Following a high-octane release just over a week ago, AC/DC has taken over the Number.one spot in 18 countries and counting with its brand-new album. Power Up. The list of topped charts includes the Number One spot on the Billboard 200, selling over 117,000 copies in the first week.

Power Up is AC/DC’s sixth number one album in Australia where the band is the only Australian group in history to have had a Number One album across five decades: Back In Black (1980s), Ballbreaker Live (1990s), Black Ice (2000s), Rock Or Bust (2010s) and Power Up (2020s). The album also holds Germany’s biggest first week of 2020 and the biggest first week for an international act in four years, as well as being the U.K.’s fastest-selling album of 2020 and the biggest first week of the year.

Power Up is the fastest-selling album of 2020 in at least three of its biggest markets — U.S., Australia and the U.K. — where it debuted at Number One. In the U.K., it opened with first-week sales of 62,000. 52,955 units of these were on a physical format (CD, vinyl, cassette).

The latest record features AC/DC’s 2020 lineup of Brian Johnson (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums), Cliff Williams (bass), Angus Young (guitar) and Stevie Young (guitar).

  1. Hey wait a minute, I thought rock was dead??? 😉 Seriously though, I’m not surprised, “Power Up” is a great album! And AC⚡DC is a great band! No matter how much the world changes, AC⚡DC doesn’t, and that’s a good thing! Actually, that’s a GREAT thing! Thank God for AC⚡DC! 🙂

  2. Purchased a CD copy after streaming it a couple of times. It is a good, solid rocker and I have to agree with a video review I had seen that Brian Johnson’s vocals sound aggressive and confident here, maybe more so than in the recent past. Produced well too, maybe just me, but I feel I can hear the bass lines clearer.
Shot in the Dark, Through the Mists of Time, Witch’s Spell & Demon Fire seem to be my favorites but No Man’s Land & Code Red are growing on me too. Hell, they’re all good.

    1. Wallmart has a pretty decent selection of CDs in-store. You just have to watch out for their “edited” versions that remove explicit language. The new Seether CD is an example: Exclusive version adds 2 live bonus tracks, but original tracks have the swearing removed.
Target has some CDs in-store, and has their own “Exclusives” too. I got my AC/DC Power Up from there because it included some stickers.

  3. Best rock album of 2020,
Glad brian had his hearing restored and could rejoin the band, I never would have thought technology could produce a prosthetic eardrum ! So sad they cant tour with covid ~
