Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has announced that his debut solo album will be released this summer.
The country-inspired record is titled We’re All Somebody From Somewhere and it’ll be out on July 15th. The singer streamed the track Red, White & You earlier this year.
Also, he’s confirmed that among the fifteen tracks on the record, which was recorded in Nashville, will be a “darker, countryfied” take on Aerosmith hit Janie’s Got A Gun, which originally appeared on the band’s 1989 album Pump.
Tyler tells Rolling Stone, “I believe y’all are gonna listen to this stuff and you’re gonna agree with me that it fell from a star. I had nothing to do with this shit – it’s just Nashville. There’s something so magical about this town and me writing with all these people.”
In addition, Tyler has announced a run of live dates which will take place in smaller venues across North America under the banner Steven Tyler… Out On A Limb.
The singer continues, “It’s a very living room thing to play small venues – it’s a little more personal.
I get to talk to people and be up-close and personal, and tell them how the music business is a dark trench – a dark, dirty, money trench. And talk about where I get my inspiration from and talk about the new songs on the record.”
A full tracklist will be revealed in due course.
In 2015, the singer admitted his Aerosmith bandmates were “not happy” about his solo album, as it resulted in the band cancelling most of their 2016 tour plans, according to guitarist Brad Whitford.

Robert Plant made country/blue grass album with Alison Krauss, and continues to make music in that vein, so if Tyler want’s to do it, then for for it. What’s unfortunate is that Aerosmith is one of America’s greatest rock bands of all time, in a time where there aren’t many of those left.
Would I buy it? Probably not, but I’m not the target audience for that kind of music.
I may be in the minority, but I am going to buy this album and enjoy it. I have been a hardcore Aerosmith fan since 1974 and I even liked “Rock In A Hard Place.” Aerosmith has not had a really great CD in some time, so I am not lamenting them not being on the road. I am going to listen to this with open ears and enjoy a singer I have followed for a long time. Us classic rock folks need to accept that our groups cannot continue forever, so enjoy what you get. Have a great summer everyone!
Anyone else laugh at his down-home, country flair? ““I believe Y’ALL are gonna listen….”
Steven released a song early last year called love is your name – it was not written by him , he may have co-written it, anyway it was pretty good , it still had a rock feel/vibe to it – not pure country by any means – country anymore is crossing over to pop rock , I think most rock fans and fans of aerosmith will probably like it- I’m sure he is doing this for the same reason he did IDOL , to stay in the headlines and stay somewhat relevant in his mid 60’s I would love to hear a great new record by aerosmith though-
I have no interest at all in Tyler doing a country album. This is almost as bad as hosting American Idol.
