Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

I’ve been saying this for years. It’s inevitable that the KISS machine would continue beyond Gene and Paul. They’ve morphed into a Blue Man Group. The nice thing is now this opens the door for franchising. “KISS” wouldn’t need to tour any more. We could go watch them at any KISS Theater across America. Perhaps partner with Six Flags and have them at each location. Maybe partner with Hard Rock Cafe and they could be the house band at all locations simultaneously. If the concept really takes off, we could see them at Burger Kings across the planet… Mmmm… Gene combo #2… Extra cheese.
Thanks Eddie for posting this. This article couldn’t be more relevant than with what we’re seeing here in 2014: the HOF situation, American Idol, Paul’s vocal issues that are now painfully obvious, etc. As a life long Kiss fan, I don’t support this in any way. In any case, it seems inevitable and quite imminent indeed with all the writing on the wall here as of late. I guess the bigger question is Paul replaced before Gene or vice-versa? I wouldn’t have thought years ago I would’ve ever said this, but it seems Gene has more miles left on him than Paul at this point. Though in the end, I can’t see these guys not going out together. At least when this happens, they will finally admit to the world that all Kiss is today is a tribute/cover band of the greatness that was the original four.
Hey Eddie: Love the shows BTW – I’m a CA 405 listener every Monday and love TMS! I have a quick question I was hoping you or one of the fans could answer for me:
I went to the KISS / Def Leppard show last night at the Forum – took my 6 and 9 year old boys – they went nuts!. Great show but I happened to notice that Vivian Campbell never had any lights on him the entire show even when he was at the front of the stage. I was thinking that maybe the lights bothered him becasue of the cancer? No doctor here but that’s what popped into my head. Any insight? Nevertheless, he and the rest of the band sounded great and KISS put on their usual explosion filled shitshow! They were great and the little guys were amped!
Keep up the great work and I look forward to hearing you live in a couple of weeks!
I see Gene and Paul creating an American Idol style tv show to search for Kiss version 2.0. If tjey can get major network backing…I could see this working.
FOREIGNER is currently touring with just Mick Jones as its original member. There have been quite a few shows where Jones was a no show due to health issues. When they came to Maine, Jones wasn’t there. The band was great but it was pretty much a cover band. Lynyrd Skynyrd are down to only one original member. My money says Skynyrd will still tour after Gary Rossington retires or passes away! The money is too good! So KISS with no original members? It will happen. It could even be successful if they manage to cut a decent album. But I see the act going the county fair route by then.
