Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

KISS have saturated the market with “collectibles” that will end up being worthless because everyone has them. They have diluted the name KISS and are on the verge of becoming a total joke. They did a “farewell” tour and sucked the money from our pockets for the chance to see them “one last time”, then continued after Pete and Ace were out. If there had been any credibility left, they ruined it for me after that. I got in many fights as a kid, defending them as to NOT being a joke. They are doing their level best to prove me wrong. They are planning a VEGAS show based on the music and the characters….that is what is in the works. Allows GENE and PAUL to be hands off…..stop performing and still cash in. Then they can say that it is an “OFFICIAL TRIBUTE SHOW” with people in the wings to “Perform the music of KISS” thus not continuing themselves. Then they can say……Not KISS but our music. Crap really….rather see a tribute band of four guys that are touring as a fan based tribute band.
Just saw the show last night w/ Def Leppard at the Los Angeles Forum. Kiss put on a great show, full of pyro and confetti. They played plenty of great songs and left plenty of great songs unplayed as well. I was kinda disappointed in Tommy though, as he seemed very quiet and just without flair. Not that Ace was much more animated, but at least he had his moments in the spotlight.
As far as replacing G&P, I’m sure they have toying with the idea for years. It would be the greatest marketing strategy to sit back and reap the benefits without having to perform on tour. I’m surprised G&P haven’t opened up a KISS museum somewhere, where fans can see all the memorabilia.
Anyway, hey Eddie, I would love to hang out with you and talk metal/rock when you’re in Los Angeles.
In my opinion and mine alone. Bands have used this vehicle as a mean to financial gain .this is clearly not about the sake of the music. . I would respect them more if it was in tribute but to take a band like kiss and keep changing lineup under the name kiss its only for financial gain . I mean all the changes with ppl in bands these days is so overwhelming its crazy . And they wonder why they suck.. I completely have gave up on it myself because everything is under false pretense to me these days . The business side of the business is so more important than ever before and everybody is much more aware. Everybody wants that big piece of the pie. And the fans they get leftovers . I aint buying most of it.
FOREIGNER, MOLLY HATCHET…
As far as I’m concerned, I already said my farewell to Kiss back in June 2000, in Jersey.
Paul, Gene, Ace & Peter, at least I think it was Ace & Peter, LOL! 😉
