Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

There’s even an interview with Bill Aucoin from 1977 saying they hoped for Kiss to continue with no original members one day, so this was in the works forever and no one should be shocked. If your ok with it support it, if not dont.
If they go this route with replacements, they need to keep the new band members identities a secret, to bring back the who are they what do they look like with out the make up. This would be difficult to do this day and age, but if successful imagine all of the hoopla that will happen.
I have also been a huge kiss fan since “forever” (and I don’t mean the song). If kiss goes on after Paul and Gene maybe Led zeppelin, ACDC, Judas Priest, etc. should….
I can see it now: The NEXT KISS Reality TV show. Contestants try out to be the next two members of KISS. Judges: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Bruce Kulick. Bruce will be the ‘love everything’ judge, Paul will be the ‘tell it like it is’ judge, and Gene would be the ‘simon cowell’ of the judges who always gets the last word. KISS will make tons of money just FINDING their replacement, and KISS will be back in front of millions of viewers and turn them on to a new generation of fans.
I’m not sure whether to say this is a brilliant idea, or if I should forget KISS continues to exist.
Paul’s voice is shot, and I’d say if one of the two goes, he’d go first.
I think that Nick Simmons would be Gene’s replacement, that way he could continue to have his legacy live on.
Hmm.. I dont know.. I like above comment.. Lets do the KISS American Idol with all former and original members decide.. That would be my vote. . Why not?
This is a great idea !!!
Seriously.
Why would anyone care about any band without any original members?
Would you go see the Beatles, if it was Bob, Dave, Frank and Bill? No. You wouldnt. You would resent that they even dared to call themselves The Beatles. It would be nothing more than a tribute band, and that may be good enough for a County Fair, no one is going to pay top dollar for an album of a bunch of nobodies, using a name of a legendary rock band like that.
I’m afraid I have to agree with Mike here. Look at all the bands that have carried on without any original members. I’m talking about the bands from the 50’s and 60’s. They have become nothing more than cheap county fair/casino acts. I’ve never been a die hard KISS fan, but would hate to see their legacy slip in such obscurity. No one can take their music away from us. All members of this band past and present should be proud of what they’ve accomplished, and have no regrets, and take that final curtain call on a high note.
