Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

Initially I thought it was absurd to replace Gene and Paul, moving forward with no original members. However, I have accepted Tommy and Eric as they are, and I still get excited every time I see them…So at this point, I could imagine taking a grand kid to see “Kiss” and telling them the history while doing it. It’s such an incredible show, and they do have a lot of simple, yet powerful and catching songs that I enjoy hearing, plus it would be great to hear the star child sing well again. It’s gotten a bit painful at this point, listening to Paul sing…
I stopped seriously following Kiss after Ace and Peter left. I bought a CD here and there, but never desired to see a show until the reunion. I think Paul has a passion for music, Gene has a passion for making money. Ace and Peter represented the rebel rockers that everybody loves. To think that having musicians dress up as other members is a good thing is ridiculous. Kiss was the first hard rock band I got into as a kid. Like many, Ace inspired me to pick up a guitar. I will never spend a dime on a new Kiss record or see a live show without the original four. If all four are replaced, that’s all it is, a cover band. I understand there are those that love Paul and Gene, and that’s cool. But as for me…I’ll keep listening to the albums I grew up listening to and purchasing new music from Ace as long as he’s still actively making music.
The more & more I think about this, I may have underestimated Gene & Paul. Las Vegas is the entertainment capitol of the world, so a Kiss “themed” residency there I think would really work! But again, I just hope they keep it in Vegas! 🙂
So the band essentially when Gene and Paul find replacements, will be nothing more than a bandwagon cover band. Young ignorant fans will jump on board the Kiss express and support them not knowing the real band. All because it’s “cool” to like Kiss. Kiss at this point is no longer the shock band they used to be. No longer does your Jesus freaky mom think of you as the devil for liking And listening to Kiss. No longer do Churches and religious freaks protest Kiss. Paul and Gene have turned Kiss into nothing but a ridiculous joke. I agree 100% with you Eddie. It’s just sad that Kiss has become the way they are.
So do you think Spiro Papadatos would play “The Demon”, as he has in the past? He can definitely pull it off. Just wonder who would play “The Starchild”?
