I honestly hate this award show, way too many corny bands on there that have little to do with true heavy metal…and to see them mixed in with the iconic bands is just plain sacrilege to me. I mean…Tony Iommi & John Petrucci get nominated for best guitarist and they give the award to the guy from that pop group Avenged?? WTF… was that meant as a joke?? Who the hell is in charge of this shit? They almost make the Grammys seem respectable. With all that said, Joan Jett sounded great live. Good job hosting Ed…but if it were me I’d tell them to go to hell.

TOOK 100% OF THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH…..LETS ALSO NOT FORGET THAT ITS SUCH A POORLY PRODUCED AWARD SHOW – FROM THE BAD LIGHTING, TO THE TINY AUDIENCE AND WORST OF ALL- THE EDITING!!!

I FEEL THE “GOLDEN GODS” (WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?) IS SOMETHING FOR TODAYS POP WORLD (AND EVERYONE WHO ELSE WHO HAS KILLED ROCK AND METAL MUSIC) TO JUST LAUGH AT WHEN THEY ARE JUST CHANNEL SURFING IN THEIR MANSIONS.

      Yeah
I tried watching the show once but it was so damn dumb . For all the reasons you mention.
Its like trying to watch T n T wrestling . They use the same small arena in the same town every week. The people( even in the front rows) are looking around, drinking beers and not even paying attention to the famous wrestler wether Hogan or whoever walking right next to them ! Kinda takes the excitement out of it as a viewer at home.

Now I just record the golden globes and fast forward to the performances

I was in tears watching Zakk Wylde give us that long overdue tribute to fallen legends like…Kevin Dubrow. The tears came from laughing so hard.

Award shows are nothing more than popularity contests, with voting done by the stupid. I know Avenged is big and has a dedicated following. But I think their guitarists are so over-rated that it’s borderline laughable.

But, maybe I’m out of touch and getting too old. I didn’t know who half the bands/musicians were during the voting for the awards this year…

Hey Eddie I know you’re tight with the Alter Bridge guys. A few months ago they announced a new concert DVD Live In Milan set to be released June 3rd. I haven’t heard anything about this since March. Their website is rarely updated and sucks in my opinion. I’ve called many retailers to ask if they will have it for sale and nobody has heard of it and it is not on any of their new release papers. Can you text Myles or Mark & ask them what’s up with this and let us AB fans know ASAP if you don’t mind? Thank you Eddie

Thanks DC! What a disappointment:(. I was really excited. Wish the AB website was updated much more frequently besides twitter posts.

The Golden Gods looked like it was held in one of the cheesy conference rooms in a second rate Days Inn motel. One of the lamest shows I have seen in a long time. I guess the TMS hosts did the best they could with what they had, and yeah it was a paying gig but I had to stop watching after a while because it was so bad.

The venue and production had me anticipating an ECW chant…

It was background noise while I surfed the net. I had DVR’d it and pushed play and when something caught my attention, like that classic joke Florentine whipped out about Bon Jovi fans, I would laugh or look up. You knew a ton of the bands weren’t there to get awards. I thought Zakk even sounded flat and unlistenable during that tribute to fallen metal/rock musicians. He was just kind of gurgling through that song. I would agree that Joan Jett was a highlight. I would have loved to caught The Runaways back in the day.
