3/24: AXL TO AC/DC RUMORS AND MY TAKE

The latest RUMORS about Axl Rose joining AC/DC are everywhere. With GnR and AC/DC you have two bands that are notoriously tight lipped about anything, so that leads to it really not taking much at all for these things to pick up steam. As I have often said the current “media” today is truly insane. One person can say anything without crediting one real source and the social media world makes it fact. The last thing I read about this was.. “a source out of Atlanta said..”. WHAT? Okay so how about this; “a source out of NJ says Eddie Trunk is the new singer in Led Zeppelin”. Anything wrong with that? I mean that literally has as much of a real source attached as these current Axl to AC/DC rumors. It’s unreal and driven by the fact that we have the perfect union of two bands that don’t talk for the most part, and have the most incredibly rabid fan bases. It is the perfect gossip online storm!

Now I am NOT saying I know ANYTHING about this one way or the other. It could be true! But the way it is being treated as anything more than a rumor by credible outlets is stunning, especially when there is not ONE real official source yet anywhere. Could Axl do it? Sure. But to me it would be a strange move on the cusp of a massive commitment and relaunch of Guns. I would think every bit of focus to make that as good as it can be would have to be there? I got one for you. How about AC/DC and Guns co-headline stadiums and Axl sings both sets? Insane right? But that’s how easy it is to start a rumor and have it get traction these days. And before we forget Brian Johnson, does anyone really care about what his story is and what really happened?? I do! I mean the guy put in 36 years! But on all fronts I will wait for REAL info from REAL CREDITED OFFICIAL sources. Until then I need to practice for my new gig fronting Zeppelin…

THIS JUST IN! AC/DC ticket holders told they will have to wait an extra two hours before concerts to begin!

ACDC has always been a band with a strong work ethic and concern for their fans. That crap would not fly in that band.

“Hey woman said the way you move, Eddie’s gonna make us sweat and make us groove”.
I think even though Axl’s a screamer, after 2 shows of trying to do Johnson’s songs he would lose his voice.

I agree. Axl can certainly give a shriek or 2 here or there, but to do it for 2 hours plus? No way. I read a book a while ago called “Why ACDC Matters” by Anthony Bozza. In the book he quoted professors from Berkley School of Music as saying that Brian Johnson’s voice is a freak of nature, and to be able to maintain that for all these years, and if anything, gotten better, is incredible.

Absolutely agree with all that Eddie, but if Angus or AC/DC management would just make a statement and clarify all this already, the soap opera would end! Can’t imagine Axl performing double duty, a full Guns set, and then a full AC/DC set? Or vice versa? Either way, just can’t imagine that scenario.

It’s true, a proper, detailed statement would cure all of this. But did anyone consider that maybe there giving Brian and his doctors a little time to sort this out? Maybe get a second opinion? In any medical diagnosis it sometimes takes time, multiple tests, etc. I can’t imaging after 36 years and making that band one of the biggest bands in the world, that they wouldn’t give Brian and his doctors time to make a proper decision. I mean the guy was on tour one day, cranking out incredible performances to huge crowds, and the next he’s out of the band cause he might lose his hearing? I totally understand that this is a serious situation, and of course Brian is no spring chicken. But geez give the guy and the band a little space and time to sort this out.

    Eddie,

Since you’re fronting Zeppelin now, any chance of getting Since I’ve Been Loving You into the setlists this summer?
