3/2: TMS RECAP, MICK MARS, NEW KISS HOF INFO.

Hope you guys all enjoyed the all new That Metal Show last night. It’s been great to be able to feature such a wide variety of rock, hard rock and metal in the shows evolution. Guys like Mick Jones and Leslie West have so much history it’s hard to even scratch the surface on TV with the time we have. Was cool seeing Marty Friedman geek out over Mick Jones “Hot Blooded” solo! Huge thanks to Leslie West for the amazing guitar. Had no idea that was coming! One day I MUST learn to play! Was also cool to have Lita jam. She is a big part of our shows history as the first ever guest, and now the first ever woman to perform for us. I did talk with Leslie about the loss of his leg and I did talk with Mick about Lou Gramm and the recent performance at the songwriters HOF but it was cut for time. Some will likely end up as online extras. I’ll post links when I can or visit www.thatmetalshow.vh1.com for more. Show replays all week. Next taping is this Tuesday in NYC with Mick Mars! So cool to have the unsung hero of Motley on our show for the hour. Truly underrated player too! Mick will also be in studio with me tomorrow for a LIVE TRUNKNation 6-10P ET on SiriusXM channel 39. Don’t miss it! More soon.

Quick update on the Kiss R&R HOF drama. My sources telling me that as of now, unless Gene and Paul change their mind and decide to play with the original band, there will be no performance of any kind for the bands induction. Common thought was that perhaps an all star band would be assembled to tribute Kiss since there is no performance from them now with any version of the band. But there will be no tribute either. Likely just a video package on the screens. So where we stand now is no performance at all of any kind related to Kiss, or the original band does a song or two in or out of makeup. And we all no as of now that ain’t happening. Still time for things to change but very reliable sources telling me that’s the HOF position as of now. Also each of the four original members get 3 minutes each for their speeches during the induction and only those inducted are at the podium for those speeches.

  1. All I got to say is all the drama surrounding KISS’ induction is pissing me off. I would have loved to have seen Gene and Paul put their egos aside and go up there with Peter and Ace for one last time and give their relationship the closure it needs. Instead we have Gene and Paul acting like nothing more than a couple of money grubbing pricks and not wanting to share the spotlight. Sure, they say they want everyone who ever played in the band inducted, but its the original members that the fans want to see. Hell, I would have loved to have seen the original four, along with the late Eric Carr (represented by his family) who was to me the bridge between the make up era and the unmasked era, and Bruce Kulik, the longest serving guitarist behind Ace. Unfortunately, we are seeing what happens when money gets involved.

  2. This is the biggest train wreck ever! Almost feels as if the HOF is punishing kiss for not playing with the original lineup. Now the hall says no kiss related performances at all???? I don’t see why kiss fans should even acknowledge this event at all.

I really like you having classic rock artists as well on TMS like Mick and Paul Rogers etc. I think some younger people come on here and give you a hard time because either they’re bored or have a very narrow spectrum of rock music . Change will only come with age for these kids. ( well, maybe not )
The hour goes by so quick . And I can’t believe it use to only be a 1/2 hr !
Foreigner and , more so, Billy Squier ( like you ) were one of my ” non metal , arena rock style ” favorites .. With so much great music.. Cheap Trick is another … I will look for the comments on Lou . I have not been interested in Foreigner since Lou . Same with Steve Perry, and Dennis DeYoung .

    Regarding Kiss .
Wasn’t it said that Ace wanted to ,but couldn’t ,play NY Groove w/ other people ??? How is that even possible ?
Did Paul & Gene say no to the producers and if he does we are not showing up so the hall got scared and told Ace ; ” no you can’t do that ” ?

    On a side note:
What do you think of devoting a whole TMS show to talking about how ridiculous Kiss has become since 02 ? You could have artist on that actually have the balls to “publically go on record ” with the same views . Not a hour of debate with people with positive views of the current version . Just one sided . I know you wish no ill will to any of the current members . But, it wouldn’t be about that . It would be about people like Dimebag and so many fans that loved this band so much and for so long . But Paul & Gene just turned it into a money making, Joe The Plumber attending, tribute act now

  4. I will always love Kiss because like many of us on here they were the first rock band I got into. I would have preferred an all inclusive non makeup performance with all past and present members but since that can’t happen I’m ok with no performance. They would just play “Rock and roll all night” anyway and real Kiss fans can’t stand that song anymore anyway. I loved the latest episode of TMS and hope you have more guests similar to Mick Jones. (Sorry but it’s the “cookie monster vocal” bands I can’t stand lol)
