Exclusive new late tonight. Ace Frehley called into my radio show live tonight and confirmed that he and Peter are being denied the opportunity to perform at the R&R Hall Of Fame ceremony by Gene and Paul, who will perform instead with the current band. Ace said (and the HOF confirmed to me directly) that the HOF wants the original band. However Gene and Paul to date have declined to allow this to happen. Ace said it was important he let the fans know exactly what was happening since tickets are about to go on sale to the public and he didn’t want fans to purchase them expecting a reunion performance even for a song or two. Ace said he is undecided if he will even attend in light of this decision. Even though the HOF would prefer the original band, they will not stand in the way of the current band playing if that is all Gene and Paul are willing to do. Assume anything is possible that something could change, but at this time there are no plans at all for Ace and Peter to play, or perhaps even be there depending what they decide. As I have said consistently when there was news to share I would let it come directly from a member, and tonight Ace let everyone know exactly what was going on. Said he was most upset for the fans who voted them in and were hoping to see a song or two, but also said it is now time to move on. He is working on a new album and said the stress was really killing him about the HOF and he needed to let fans know what was up before tickets went on sale. Peter will likely have a similar statement on his site tomorrow. I’ll continue to keep you posted as more info develops but that’s where things are at now. I’m sure the audio will be on YouTube of Ace’s call but you can hear the entire show next weekend as usual on all affiliate stations and online outlets as well. Sad day for long time Kiss fans but at least we know where things stand as of now. The producer/director for the HOF show Joel Gallen expressed an interest in coming on the air soon. Gene and Paul should be ashamed of their childish behavior.
Sadly, this is not unexpected. I really had no real hope when the HOF was initially announced that it would happen but then Gene made those uncharacteristically humble comments that he might consider a one-time “reunion” at the HOF and I got super excited for a little while until Paul’s comments threw a bucket of cold water all over any small hope I had. Thanks to Ace for the straight talk and always to you as well, Eddie; I was pumped to purchase fix for the event but, frankly, thanks to the crazy high prices and the fact that we will almost definitely just get the current KISS lineup that is just not that great, I am not going to bother. No disrespect at all to Tommy or Eric but a one-nite jam of even just a few songs with the classic lineup would have been magic.
Gees. Somewhere along the line KISS lost all it’s class. What ever happened……..I think of the four of them Ace and Peter have showed much more class then a couple of other knuckleheads. Even with all their stumbles and falls Peter and Ace have remained the true “Class” of what was the “True” KISS…………..
I knew Gene & Paul would screw this up! This is a disgusting slap in the face to the fans that they supposedly care so much about. They couldn’t get together for two tunes? I mean, what the hell is going on with Gene & Paul? I AM DONE WITH THIS “BAND”!
Seriously, every single KISS fan should let them know how they feel about them taking what should be a celebration for one of the greatest bands in history and turning it into a promo for a tribute act. What about the fans that supported you in the beginning when you were thought of as a joke? I guess those years when you were four “New York freaks” who terrorized the music business and put fear into parents and your competition mean nothing to you. Speaking of New York, who remembers the fistfights we’d get into just for being KISS fans? THANK YOU ACE, for announcing this before tickets went on sale. I just saved some hard earned cash that will be going to the next Ace Frehley album and tour. I can’t wait to hear what Peter says. Oh, I must also say this, THANK YOU GENE AND PAUL FOR THE DECISION TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY FROM L.A. JUST TO TAKE A DUMP ON YOUR LEGACY AND HOMETOWN FANS. I’m sure Tommy & Eric won’t feel stupid at all standing on stage pretending to be ACE & PETER while they hear everyone talk about how ACE & PETER influenced them.

Hi Eddie. I’ve not only been a DIE-HARD KISS fan since 1976 and ALWAYS will be,but have also been a longtime fan of your radio show and “That Metal Show”,and wanted to personally thank you for all that you have done for hardrock/heavy metal as a whole and also still being a fan of KISS yourself. It is hard to hear that Paul/Gene at least for the time being won’t allow Ace and Peter to perform with them. It hurts and and doesn’t make sense,but I still have to respect their decisions however it may feel. After all NOBODY else has any say what goes on in that band besides the members themselves,so all we can do as fans is just live with it,and at least be thankful that KISS is still around and making millions of fans happy and proud and doing what they do. Ace was always,and always will be my favorite KISS bandmember and I’m sure he and Peter are hurt by all this,and I sincerely feel bad for them and feel it’s a travesty,but at least Paul and Gene do acknowledge their importance to KISStory and know that without Ace and Peter,the band would have never been as huge as it is.
