Exclusive new late tonight. Ace Frehley called into my radio show live tonight and confirmed that he and Peter are being denied the opportunity to perform at the R&R Hall Of Fame ceremony by Gene and Paul, who will perform instead with the current band. Ace said (and the HOF confirmed to me directly) that the HOF wants the original band. However Gene and Paul to date have declined to allow this to happen. Ace said it was important he let the fans know exactly what was happening since tickets are about to go on sale to the public and he didn’t want fans to purchase them expecting a reunion performance even for a song or two. Ace said he is undecided if he will even attend in light of this decision. Even though the HOF would prefer the original band, they will not stand in the way of the current band playing if that is all Gene and Paul are willing to do. Assume anything is possible that something could change, but at this time there are no plans at all for Ace and Peter to play, or perhaps even be there depending what they decide. As I have said consistently when there was news to share I would let it come directly from a member, and tonight Ace let everyone know exactly what was going on. Said he was most upset for the fans who voted them in and were hoping to see a song or two, but also said it is now time to move on. He is working on a new album and said the stress was really killing him about the HOF and he needed to let fans know what was up before tickets went on sale. Peter will likely have a similar statement on his site tomorrow. I’ll continue to keep you posted as more info develops but that’s where things are at now. I’m sure the audio will be on YouTube of Ace’s call but you can hear the entire show next weekend as usual on all affiliate stations and online outlets as well. Sad day for long time Kiss fans but at least we know where things stand as of now. The producer/director for the HOF show Joel Gallen expressed an interest in coming on the air soon. This is exactly what Gene and Paul want…publicity. Everyone knows this is B.S. on all levels. All the Dead (yuck) and RHCP previous band members get in…why not all of KISS. And how cool would it be to have every living member of KISS on stage for a huge three song jam, or better yet, a medley instead of the predictable “R&R All Night”! They all brought something to the table! There is no replacing Ace an Peter…or Eric or Vinnie (etc) that matter! Wise up Gene and Paul…it is not all about you! RRHOF needs to take a second look after this, and fix the system. No one wants to see a repeat of the Van Halen induction. This will be a huge blow to the KISS Army if what Ace said is true. Some of the KISS Kruisers are ready to cancel their reservations, true life long fans are ready to give it up and get rid of their KISS collectables, fans are not buying tickets to the concert. Just read the Trunk report Gene, Paul and Doc! Sure Peter and Ace have played some less than stellar shows! Eric and Tommy do a great job…the whole makup ordeal is a joke…now KISS arena football??? I have a feeling KISS coffin, Hello Kitty and stuffed panda bear sales will soon be on the decline! Gene, Paul and Doc…you may be the richest people on Earth , but somewhere along the way, whoever is making these marketing decisions have lost touch to what is cool, and what is an embarrasment (to you and to your lifelong fans who have rooms dedicated to your band, like myself). Now it is getting ugly, shunning band mates from a RRHOF ceremony! As much as I love KISS…this will be the end of the empire! And the end of my 40 years as a fan. My wife and I have already booked our KISS Kruise…but this will be our final sail, and the last dollar I give KISS unless they make this right!

It is funny how Paul is annoyed that the HOF wouldn’t induct anyone but the original 4 and that he considered it “arrogant”. What better way to say screw you to the HOF by saying no performance by the original 4….which is what the HOF wants…seems a bit arrogant as well. It is a shame for the fans and Ace an Peter…but I am sure most of us aren’t surprised. I believe Eddie said at one point how do you sell the current KISS after reuniting for even a couple of songs with Ace and Peter? It has been said before about KISS being a business…I definitely believe…and if I am wrong Eddie please correct me…that pretty much most if not all decisions coming from Paul/Gene are based on impact on their BUSINESS…as opposed to any sense of devotion to music etc. Speaking for myself only, I think the whole induction is completely diminished…how do you induct the original 4…and then have only 2 of them play with 2 others not even inducted? Right or wrong, based on WHO is being inducted…this is about the ORIGINAL KISS…not any version other than that. I hope the situation changes….but I also hope to win a million dollars. Not holding out hope for either.
Wow, great responses here. Sounds like there are a lot of “now former” KISS fans present. How is it that the band has managed to wreck this? Is this what RuPaul wants – is THIS his way of sticking it to the institution that he despises by only allowing the cover band to play? We’ll tank their ticket sales by not giving them the real deal. This needs to leak out to the main media, and start building some buzz. It could be a real embarrassment for the hall. Isn’t it odd that Gene has been SOOOO quiet, especially following RuPaul’s chatter.
Wow I don’t know where to begin. I am very disappointed myself and even more disappointed for Peter and Ace.
They deserved this honor, for what it is, and to be denied the opportunity to play- it’s literally like Paul and Gene kicking them in the teeth. I know they can attend the ceremonies but they will feel like fish out of water with the cover band playing instead of them. I don’t mean to discredit anyone’s hard work with that band, Bruce Kulick, Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, Mark St John or the current two. They are all great musicians but KISS was KISS because of Ace and Peter. The original four are being inducted and fair or not, the RRHOF and the fans want the original four. Probably in all fairness all should be inducted, and Ace and Peter should play a set of two songs with Gene and Paul in full KISS regalia. Then G&P could play two songs accoustically with the current lineup. I think the fans would be accepting of that and it’s fair to everyone.
I noticed that Paul’s twitter feed has been very silent and no one has posted to it. Good. I hope the fans show their disapproval by boycotting all things Gene and Paul.
Gene has only been posting silly, girly pictures to his twitter feed this morning. Nary a mention of the RRHOF debacle. No one has posted their comments to him either. I guess he’s trying to come across as a warm and fuzzy guy.

I was going to buy Paul’s forthcoming book, but not anymore. I hope everyone will hit these two in the pocket book by not buying merchandise. Again, their twitter feeds are quite silent.
Poor Peter always like the rock and roll glory and I feel bad he and Ace have been shunned to sitting in the audience- you could really tell that Ace, happy go lucky as he usually is, was pretty broken up by the decision.
I hope Gene and Paul feel ashamed of themselves, I doubt it, but if enough people shun the RRHOF and Paul’s book, maybe they’ll both get the message. No one said they had to take Peter and Ace back into the band, but was putting differences aside and playing a couple of songs just for old times sake, such a big deal to alienate a huge portion of their fan base?
