Exclusive new late tonight. Ace Frehley called into my radio show live tonight and confirmed that he and Peter are being denied the opportunity to perform at the R&R Hall Of Fame ceremony by Gene and Paul, who will perform instead with the current band. Ace said (and the HOF confirmed to me directly) that the HOF wants the original band. However Gene and Paul to date have declined to allow this to happen. Ace said it was important he let the fans know exactly what was happening since tickets are about to go on sale to the public and he didn’t want fans to purchase them expecting a reunion performance even for a song or two. Ace said he is undecided if he will even attend in light of this decision. Even though the HOF would prefer the original band, they will not stand in the way of the current band playing if that is all Gene and Paul are willing to do. Assume anything is possible that something could change, but at this time there are no plans at all for Ace and Peter to play, or perhaps even be there depending what they decide. As I have said consistently when there was news to share I would let it come directly from a member, and tonight Ace let everyone know exactly what was going on. Said he was most upset for the fans who voted them in and were hoping to see a song or two, but also said it is now time to move on. He is working on a new album and said the stress was really killing him about the HOF and he needed to let fans know what was up before tickets went on sale. Peter will likely have a similar statement on his site tomorrow. I’ll continue to keep you posted as more info develops but that’s where things are at now. I’m sure the audio will be on YouTube of Ace’s call but you can hear the entire show next weekend as usual on all affiliate stations and online outlets as well. Sad day for long time Kiss fans but at least we know where things stand as of now. The producer/director for the HOF show Joel Gallen expressed an interest in coming on the air soon. Gene & Paul crushed our dreams!!!
The HOF is honoring the ORIGINAL members! THAT’S IT! No matter what band is inducted they induct the members that are eligible. Regardless of what lineup plays at the ceremony! In this case, it is Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter being inducted. It would be sad if Ace & Peter let Gene & Paul diminish that by not showing up! All four deserve to stand on that stage & accept the honor of the impact they made 40 years ago! If Paul & Gene won’t give their fans a one night only reunion of the four of them w/o makeup but, just jamming out on a few classic KISS songs then they are just turning MORE fans against them because I wouldn’t want to see a FORCED reunion anyhow! If they insist on playing in makeup with a couple of imposters then I hope they get drowned out with BOOS! Then while they are crying in their makeup chairs backstage, Ace & Peter can come out at the end & jam with Dave Grohl & any other musicians that would be HONORED to play with them. Just like Eddie’s Anniversary Party! NOW that I would LOVE to see!
I have followed you Eddie on this-I really feel that KISS was a fervor early on with the dolls, lunch boxes, cartoons, comic books, a movie(which was not the best) , lol, but I also understand Paul’s trepidation with regard to the fervor that came the last time the original 4 were honored. I do believe KISS is a lot of hard work from ALL members who made them who they are. I think it would be something to have the current band do a few songs that day( in makeup), then have the original 4 do one song. One song is better than none. Maybe the faithful won’t be happy, but they would be satisfied. Love the show brother. I’m 54 and you teach me every day.
KISS sucks now!! and reading this confirms it..real KISS fans are so pissed at Gene and Paul. Effing dudes do not care what the fans want..they care about what they want. KISS is a joke now..Fake guys with Peter and Ace’s make up!! Shame on you Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons!! SHAME ON YOU!!! You ruined everything for KISS fans..the reunion was the best thing ever. Should have quit then. After seeing the LA Dodger Hockey game thing..I know now that KISS is a parody of themselves and Paul sings like poop. Time to hang it up and quit..enjoy all your money us fans gave you.

This whole Kiss Hall of Fame thing sounds like it is going to be a disaster! If this really goes down the way it sounds, I will forever be done with Kiss!!! I have been a Kiss fan my whole life and still really enjoy the albums done with the original line up and certainly several of the Eric Carr albums as well. I blows my mind that Gene and Paul are so damn ignorant and stuck on themselves that they can’t even take one day out of their lives to be human and let their egos go for a little while and do what is right for the fans and for the Kiss legacy. But no, that would make way too much sense and actually would make the world of Kiss fans happy and content that this induction was done properly. Paul has even said that if it were not for Peter and Ace that there wouldn’t be a Kiss. Is it really that difficult to just get up there and suck it up for 2 or 3 songs? Really? I am really disappointed (but ultimately not surprised) that this is happening the way it is. I guess I will hold out hope that somehow common sense will prevail over the next few weeks and that they will make the right moves necessary to get this thing done the right way.
