2/22: ACE FREHLEY CONFIRMS NO ORIGINAL KISS PERFORMANCE AT HOF

Exclusive new late tonight. Ace Frehley called into my radio show live tonight and confirmed that he and Peter are being denied the opportunity to perform at the R&R Hall Of Fame ceremony by Gene and Paul, who will perform instead with the current band. Ace said (and the HOF confirmed to me directly) that the HOF wants the original band. However Gene and Paul to date have declined to allow this to happen. Ace said it was important he let the fans know exactly what was happening since tickets are about to go on sale to the public and he didn’t want fans to purchase them expecting a reunion performance even for a song or two. Ace said he is undecided if he will even attend in light of this decision. Even though the HOF would prefer the original band, they will not stand in the way of the current band playing if that is all Gene and Paul are willing to do. Assume anything is possible that something could change, but at this time there are no plans at all for Ace and Peter to play, or perhaps even be there depending what they decide. As I have said consistently when there was news to share I would let it come directly from a member, and tonight Ace let everyone know exactly what was going on. Said he was most upset for the fans who voted them in and were hoping to see a song or two, but also said it is now time to move on. He is working on a new album and said the stress was really killing him about the HOF and he needed to let fans know what was up before tickets went on sale. Peter will likely have a similar statement on his site tomorrow. I’ll continue to keep you posted as more info develops but that’s where things are at now. I’m sure the audio will be on YouTube of Ace’s call but you can hear the entire show next weekend as usual on all affiliate stations and online outlets as well. Sad day for long time Kiss fans but at least we know where things stand as of now. The producer/director for the HOF show Joel Gallen expressed an interest in coming on the air soon. As usual my door is open to any and all to discuss. More soon.

  1. You know what, that’s fine. At this point, I wouldn’t expect anything different from Paul and Gene. So instead of people complaining, what you SHOULD do is put together a show with Ace and Peter in NYC the same night as the RnRHoF induction for their fans.

  2. That is so cool of ACE to inform us long time fans about this before we plunk out 600 bucks to see the current KISS line-up the way it is. I know i will never pay to see the current line-up of KISS because of the same reasons Eddie says. But that being said, i hope ACE and PETER find it in their hearts to show up because they earned this right 40 years ago!!! So at least soak it in boys. YOU DESERVE IT!!! BTW Eddie its joey v from the Alwilk days, how are you my friend?

    1. Ed.
KISS is not even my favorite band & I’m near tears over this shit.
I mean this is just incredible.
What really pissed me off was going over to Paul’s Twitter earlier Saturday 2/22 & seeing 2 tweets slamming YOU!
One said you ‘ re ‘at it again!’ WTF? This is ONLY your favorite all-time band!
Of course you’re at it again, because you care!
This is a travesty of epic proportions. Screw Gene & Paul who have gotten un-cool & clueless in their later years.

      Fucking bastards.

      Peace, Ed. You fucking rule.

  3. Sorry but Gene and Paul need to get their $hit together and pull up their big boy panties and let them perform. With out them KISS would not have been KISS. Just my humble opinion.

  4. Boy, that is a disappointment. I feel like I should be shocked at this decision by Gene and Paul, and I want to be, but yet on some level, I’m just not surprised anymore. How they could be so tone deaf to the situation is what’s truly shocking. I feel bad for Ace and Peter. And I like Tommy and Eric a lot – they’re great! BUT, for what this night is supposed to be, it should be a full reunion for the night and then Tommy and Eric could maybe come out at the end for the jam, not in make-up.

I guess since Paul and Gene were the ones who’ve been there the whole time making decisions they just assume that whatever decision they make will be understood and accepted by the fans. I’m not sure that’s going to be the case here. It ought to be some interesting tweeting from Gene and/or Paul today after your interview as people line up to question them about it on Twitter.

Hopefully, smarter heads will prevail here and this can be the celebration of the band that it should be.

  5. Well … there it is. Gene and Paul leverage the HOF into THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THEY WILL EVER MAKE.
We’re inducting these four gentlemen, however two of them won’t allow the other two of them to come out and play for you. So you’ll be seeing this cover band … hit it RuPaul.
This is incredibly stupid. My support for the KISS circus ends now. After, what … nearly forty years?
The cover band had better be prepared to play behind glass that night, because it will probably get ugly.
