2/20: ALICE COOPER RECAP, STARLAND & PITT THIS WEEKEND, ROBIN ZANDER, TMS, MORE

Just back from FL where it was actually cold for FL, but nowhere near the 0 degrees it is in NJ! Huge thanks as always to the Seminole Hard Rock for having me. Was awesome hosting Alice Cooper and spending some time with Alice and his killer band. Alice is a prime example of a case where age makes no difference at all on the quality of his performance. Few artists have been able to grow older in their career and be as good or better than they have ever been. Performance wise and visually the guy has lost nothing. He’s also one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I spent some time post show talking with Alice about a bunch of stuff and will also post a podcast interview with him soon. The 95 minute set had all the classic props and was divided into 3 themes with most of the hits and a set of covers. Thanks to all the great fans I met at the post show at the Hard Rock as well.

Speaking of podcasts hope you guys have checked out my brand new one that posted yesterday with Robin Zander. This is exclusive to my podcast and it’s a great conversation about Cheap Trick and much more. Free now on Itunes or www.podcastone.com

I’m at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ tonight with Don & Jim for our live stand up show. Jackyl plays after us. We start around 8, Jackyl should be on by 10. If you purchased the VIP Meet & Greet that is at 6P. Tickets available at the door right up till showtime. Tomorrow we do two shows at The Rex Theater in Pittsburgh. Please note Jackyl is not with us in Pitt, only tonight in NJ.

Of course tomorrow TMS is back with our first new episode in almost a year! Geddy Lee, Joe Elliott and John Petrucci are the guests. Do not miss the return of TMS 9 and 11PM ET tomorrow night on VH1 Classic!

I’ll be on Ron & Fez with Don & Jim live today at 1P ET on SiriusXM Raw Dog

Thanks for the Trunk Report Eddie. I’m so looking forward to the new episode of TMS, and to have Joe Elliott as a guest is a huge surprise. I always love it when you bring on rock stars that have never been on before. I was wondering if you saw that recent interview Eddie Van Halen did? I can’t believe he’d give that interviewer an hour of his time but not you! Disgraceful to say the least. Maybe something might change his mind about not wanting to be on TMS. His fans deserve it and seeing how he did that last interview he might reconsider. I know you have tried many times to get him on, I hope you never give up.
Any chance that Bobby Blitz might be on the tv show this season? I think the last two Overkill Albums were just kick ass in your face heavy duty thrash! I owe it all to you for turning me onto them. I regret that night in Dallas when you were at Trees when I left early, you said to me “Bry, come on and stay, you’re not going to leave before overkill comes on, they are one of my favorite bands” and I said I have to work early tomorrow I have no choice. Well, I made up for that mistake when they returned to trees last September for a show and I actually brought my wife with me who, believe it or not, thought overkill was pretty cool. You also turned me into Saxon, they are playing at Gas Monkey Live in Dallas and I plan on going to seem them for the first time.
Thank you for the hard work and dedication you have put into your career over the years. I know I’m not the only one who appreciates what you do.

Alice is awesome Eddie, I know it must have been a great show. Sorry you are battling the cold back east, but it is beautiful here in NorCal so here is what the wife and I are doing tomorrow night for TMS:

Slow roasted prime rib on the Weber kettle out on the deck
    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
    Sin Zin Zinfandel

As soon as TMS is done, in goes AC/DC Live at River Plate blasting on the Bose system.

If I could send you a picture of the red sky sunset today here I would Eddie. It’s kind of chilly here, about 70 degrees lol.

Also, we scored AC/DC tickets for AT&T Park in San Francisco on September 25…can’t wait!

Saw Alice Cooper at Jones Beach a few yrs ago while opening for Iron Maiden. Was gonna just wait till Maiden went on before entering venue. Decided to check out Alice. What a show he put on and was so happy that I decided to see him. The guy was in his mid 60’s and sounded incredible. Amazing show by both bands. Even the diehard Maiden fans were saying how good Cooper was. Didn’t realize how many good songs he has. Wanna eventually see him when he headlining. Very humble guy during interviews. If you have never seen him live, check him out. Think he’s late 60’s now but sounds better than he did in 1970’s

Alice is 67 now. I have seen the guy live numerous times and he may be the best live act I have ever seen. He has a ton of great songs and great albums, a ton of them. I know a lot of people talk about the 70’s albums he did (especially with the original band), but he has a lot of great albums after the mid 70’s as well like The Last Temptation and Brutal Planet and is a true class act. Cooper is the real deal.

I interviewed Alice Cooper in front of a live audience a couple of years. Complete pro, and a truly decent guy.
