They were much better when Dave had hair and Eddie was an alcoholic. Thanks a lot AA.
O.K, Eddie I am obsessed with this stuff, you win.
I have arrived at a few conclusions:
Eddie Van Halen loves playing with his kid so much, there is no way Michael Anthony is ever going to get his spot back. The background vocals, woooweee they aren’t happenin’ now, and it’s not helping Dave any, his voice is doing what alot of singers voices do at his age. Something Dave, Paul, and Rob do now is they use this other part of their vocal chord to go high, and it sounds like a dying sea lion or something…it’s just this god awful sound, and because they actually hit the note, they think it’s O.K, but the quality of the note is terrible. Back to Dave, if he would just stop trying to sing high, stop using that part of his voice, he is still a great entertainer. He can barely walk down the stairs on the drum riser now, but I’ll be darn if he still doesn’t completely command attention. He joined the Foo Fighters and he was the only entertaining thing happening, he brings you in, he’s still the master of the party (their drummer can’t play that good)…
Eddie Van Halen, the guy did so many drugs, and his age is catching up to him, his ability is slipping…
I just get this picture: if you went to these guys, Rob, Paul, Eddie VH, in their prime, and showed them this footage, those guys, at that age, would say “no way am I going to let that happen, I would step down.” They would be mortified.
Sammy Hagar, the guy is such a consummate professional, he took care of himself, and he sounds like he’s in his 30s. I just really admire his attitude, his approach.
