TESTAMENT ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF DRUMMER DAVE LOMBARDO

This drummer is key in making Testament‘s mark in metal history. The band is very excited to welcome back one of the greatest drummers in heavy metal…Take your pick, one in one hundred, I don’t care who you have on that list, there is only one drummer who is the best, Dave Lombardo.

Chuck Billy declares“ I’ll state the obvious, We are more than overwhelmed to welcome back Dave Lombardo to play drums with Testament.  We are so excited to share the stage again with  Lombardo. Dave added immense power when he joined the band for The Gathering (release), and we are ecstatic to see what new flavor he will bring back to Testament.”

Dave Lombardo stated, “This is a long-awaited reunion that was bound to happen. Once upon a time, we created a thrash masterpiece. I have no doubt that our musical chemistry will pick up exactly where we left off. I love the Testament family and am very excited to be joining them once again. Pure brutality awaits.”

Eric Peterson expresses, “Having Dave Lombardo join us again feels like we are picking up where unfinished business had left off.  There is a silver lining to every cloud and working again with Dave calls for us to celebrate with our horns held high.”

  1. Testament doesn’t get the love they deserve. they have been rocking since the 80’s and never slowed down. I am not the biggest fan, but they should be mentioned when discussing the top thrash metal bands. I find them more enjoyable than Megadeth…and no one EVER talks about “The Ballad”, I don’t even think they play that song live ever, when I was in high school that song ruled my playlist.

And just because, here is my list of classic thrash metal bands (in order):

Metallica (early stuff, not so much a fan of the newer stuff)
Anthrax (even the Jon Bush years, bug fan of his era)
Slayer (actually just recently delved into some of their non-famous stuff, from Reign in Blood to Seasons in the Abyss, not one bad song. Love God Hates Us All as well)
TESTAMENT (Chuck Billy is the most underrated singer in thrash metal)
    Death Angel
Megadeth (never been a fan, maybe it is Dave’s voice? Although Holy Wars is one of my favorite songs)
    Suicidal Tendencies

i am doing this early so i may have missed a few!!

    1. Nice list, Michael! You’ve got some great thrash bands on it! As a body of work, Slayer is my favorite thrash band. Megadeth’s “Rust in Peace” is my favorite thrash album, and Exodus’ “Bonded by Blood” is my favorite thrash debut album. Other great thrash bands are Heathen, Forbidden, Vio-lence, Overkill, and Possessed.

Testament got a great drummer in Dave Lombardo. I think Lombardo is the best heavy metal drummer out there…and Testament will continue to destroy with him on drums.

  2. Lombardo always rules! As for Testament, I put them in the Anthrax catagory of bands that don’t hit THAT nerve. It’s loud, it’s heavy, it’s kind of just there.
